BloodyScalpel said:So you think a person is "smarter" than another just cause he/she does better at school than another? Get a grip. In school they just fill us up with tonnes of random useless shit we'll never have any use for in our lives, not doing well can be related to literally MILLIONS of factors, including, hey, snap - NOT CARING.
Einstein was a crap student. CRAP.
I'm not in high school. I'm done with it, and as it didn't add a thing to my life - that considering I'm in college now - and most of the stuff I've learnt in highschool were worth jack shit here.Roel said:Well, i don't know what you learn at school here it's pretty good.
What I'm trying to say is that when I'm done with my study I can design a machine out of some given specifications, people who are going to clean toilets for the rest of their lives are probably just not capable of learning that stuff. Maybe it looks like you are being filled with useless stuff, that's what I thought aswell at high school, but in the end most of it has proven its use. People who really don't care about school (as in not getting any degree) are just fucking stupid.
BloodyScalpel said:Course you can, calculus is easy as fuck
No it isn't.Roel said:lol.. that comment is just stupid
That's a narrowminded fascist anachronic view. You gotta at least be conscious of that . First of all, intelligence isn't related only to what is taught at school, there are NINE basic types of intelligence, of which only two or three are explored at school. Second of all, the evaluation method used by schools is flawed and imcomplete, many things could affect grade - most of which have nothing to do with intelligence or even the person's school life itself. And third and more importantly, doing a higher level won't change a thing in their lives, so it's their choice to care about it or not - you can't say that's just stupidity. I used to be one of the crappiest students ever when I was in high school, in college I'm at the top of the class. It's all in how you prioritize things.Roel said:I agree on the grades part. If you pass the exam you know enough for that level of highschool, but here in holland for example there are 4 or 5 levels of high school (easier - harder) and I do judge people's "intelligence" according to what level they do. Some people who did a low level say they could have done a higer one but didn't. Well, sucks for them but in my eyes that's a form of stupidness, so - intelligence points for you.
That's just my vision, you have another one, fine by me.

Uhm, at least in holland it does change things in your life.doing a higher level won't change a thing in their lives
+points for you from my point of viewI used to be one of the crappiest students ever when I was in high school, in college I'm at the top of the class. It's all in how you prioritize things.
Even after college? Here the grades in highschool are, well, forgotten, and the grades in college matter pretty much only while you're still in college to get research assignments, exchanges, stuff like like that.Roel said:Uhm, at least in holland it does change things in your life.

True. I give researchers higher credit than economists for example. Economists and friends keep everything going, researchers "invent" new stuff and that's just worth alot imoEventually all that matters is what you've done in your professional life.
