Just got Op Mindcrime II... the first song (I'm American) is borderline Speed Metal!

KILLER ... so far so good! Praying this one is a return to form for one of the most talented progressive rock band ever.

Well after Empire they went downhill... their following albums had some good (and some great) songs but overall very disappointing.

Operation Mindcrime II is a continuation of the story of Nikki who is now 20 years older and released from prison.

A great song called The Chase see's Nikki come face to face with Dr X from the first album - and guess who voices Dr X?

RONNIE J DIO!!!!!!!!!! Him and Tate work well off each other. 2 of the best voices in Metal ever on 1 song! KILLER.

The the day just gets better and better. Thanx for the update:cool:

Operation:Mindcrime the original is still to me the greatest ALBUM ever made by any band. Anybody who hasn't heard it: put on headphones, grab the lyrics (but don't read ahead, that's cheating!) and when you're done it's like you've just read the most phenomenal novel of your life. Great solos, vocals, interludes, the story flows flawlessly and continually and never pauses other than for dramatic moment. To me the best body of work I've ever heard, so many years later. If you haven't heard it, buy it and start from the beginning and don't waver. I'm telling you. Just do it. Seriously. I've been waiting for the sequel...it's out now?

I concur... one my all time favourites! Best concept album ...ever ... PERIOD

It's one of those records that everything I've ever read about it since its release has been awesome but I've never gotten around to picking it up.
Sufferer you have convinced me to check it out.

OK today I finally gave OM2 a good listen to.

...and on one hand you will compare it to the original and obviously it's not as good as that masterpiece (did we expect it to be though) but if you look at it as an album on it's own merit without the shadow of its predecessor looming over it you have 1 fine album.

Queensryche's best effort in a long long time. Their best since Empire for sure.

I won't give it a score just yet - too hard to really do that but some songs instantly grabbed me. Others might take some time.

Oddly enough some of their sound beckons their Rage for Order and Queen of the Reich days!!!

Dio is the man. No need to pass the torch. He still destroy's most singers half his age.

OK as the F1 car just behind me deafens the SHIT outta me I will say this - I have OM2 playing in the background and this album gets better and better.

So far I give it a 8/10
