REVIEW

This is an interesting album but is no way metal related, period. The artists, Trond Engum – a Norwegian, is THE SOUNDBYTE. His musical vision is a dark cacophony of cutting, cold sounds that are intermingled with an 80’s style Brit-Pop panache. It feels more like a move soundtrack for a dark low budget thriller. Each track tells its own story and there is a certainly a feel of emotional detachment that resonates throughout the album. On closer inspection it turns out that the album was recorded in isolation on a boat somewhere out in the North Sea.

If cold atmospheric music is what you’re into and you like the idea of someone capturing the emotional meaning of isolated loneliness then this album is your boat ticket.

Wow, I really like this one. You're right, it's not metal, but I think it will appeal to some metal fans. It's an unusual album witha definite personality, and I really like the cold, gothic vocals juxtaposed w/ some of the more brighter sounding tracks, like Waiting. I really like the femal vox too.

If you give this album a few spins, it really does grow on you. Yes, the female vox are really cool. Not a bad album if you want to zone out for an hour or so.

from the last batch of stuff I got from Aural/Code666 ... this was my favorite.
it reminds me of a soundtrack to a Michael Mann movie.
