the state of american metal

i was thinking about how metal in the us has changed over the years in the us. in the 80s through the early part of the 90s, we had bands that were truly legendary (metallica, megadeth, slayer, pantera, anthrax, morbid angel, the list goes on and on). but grunge came along and took alot of attention from metal, then nu-metal almost killed it. i was wondering what bands do we have left other than the legendary bands still around that can restore the glory of american metal? i'll start.
god forbid, mastodon, agalloch, and maybe lamb of god

American mainstream metal is pretty much beyond hope. But there are plenty of great underground bands. So if you just ignore the mainstream rubbish then I don't think anything needs to be "restored" really.

sorry mate, although I'm not too sure what you mean by "another thread derailed by your ass"

But honestly this topic has been discussed, try using the search function OP

edit: my threads are much better :)
