As I Lay Dying are not horrible, but their last album was terrible. They have not done anything new, and their songwriting is weak. However Unearth and God Forbid are definitely some of the only good metal-core bands around.

How has basically no one mentioned any black metal bands? Not shocking considering probably 10% of this forum likes black metal. If you consider bands that are less well known, which most people here aren't doing, you'd realize that America is probably as strong as just about any country right now. America has always been the leader in brutal death, which is not popular here either.

There's a few BM bands that I mentioned....Weakling, WitTR, Noctuary are pretty black...

weakling, wolves, asunder and agalloch ill agree with.

morgion is now defunct as is nocturnus i beleive.

and the rest are not worth mentioning as any sort of flag bearers of anything.
