I hope this works..

like, put your tour reviews here or something, so there aren't 2980234 threads w/ the same substance.

the tour doesn't come my way for another couple weeks, but I heard they don't play much off Projector. sad but understandable. I'd give my left nut to hear "To A Bitter Halt" played live..

and nothing from The Gallery either. ah well. maybe on their headlining tour next time around ;)

uh, ok. discuss.

I saw this at In flames site. I won't see this show until Wednesday in Arizona.

San Francisco show review (Setlist included)
Here we go...

Dark Tranquillity opened the show. For whatever reason, I can't remember their exact setlist, however, some of the songs they played include:

Monochromatic Stains
Damage Done
The Sun Fired Blanks
Final Resistance
White Noise/Black Silence
Haven

... and a few more.

I think they sounded great, and I think they were happy that so many people were into them, despite it being their first visit here. Mikael definately looked happy to finally being playing here and his voice sounded great live.

Sentenced was up next. Now, I should probably point out that not very many people were into them. I personally love Sentenced and thought they did an awesome job. To me, it looked like Ville was a bit annoyed that there wasn't much crowd participation, but I was doing my best to show that I appreciated every last song they played. They opened with "Cross My Heart and Hope To Die" from their latest release The Cold White Light. The rest of their set included:

Noose
The Suicider
Excuse Me While I Kill Myself
Nepenthe
Everything is Nothing
Warrior of Life

and 1 or 2 other tracks that aren't coming to mind.

Ok, then out comes Killswitch Engage. Holy shit, these guys fucking suck! Every single song sounded the same to me, and you could not pay me to sit through another one of their sets. They looked like a high school band up there and sounded like one also. Never again will I see these morons live.

Now, what everyone is waiting for. In Flames.

I should point out that they all came out clad in white, and Anders has dreadlocks now. I don't know when this happened, but it looks kind of ridiculous on him. A few of them are red, and it just doesn't fit him well.

They sounded great though. Very good performance, and a shitload of crowd participation. They opened with Bullet Ride, as usual, which makes a very kickass opener.

Full Setlist (not in order, because I can't remember the order)

Bullet Ride
System
Embody the Invisible
Episode 666
Gyroscope
Behind Space
Clad in Shadows
Cloud Connected
Trigger
Ordinary Story
Clayman
Pinball Map
Only for the Weak
Drifter
Black & White
Colony

Not one single song from The Jester Race, which kinda pissed me off. Last time, they at least played Artifacts of the Black Rain. I can't understand why they rarely ever play tracks from TJR, considering so many people love that album. Anyway, the new songs sounded great live, especially "Trigger".

All in all, a good show, but seeing as how I was having to push morons away from me who couldn't keep their fucking asses in the pit, I missed a great deal of watching the bands actually perform. Pits usually don't bother me, but tonight, they did. I was there to watch one of my favorite bands perform, not get knocked around by a bunch of jerkoffs who don't give a shit about anything except running around in circles, looking like idiots and not watching the bands. (sorry for the rant)

Basically, it was the same set as last time, with the new songs added in, and I can't say I approve of that. I was hoping for more older shit, but what can I say? I got see In Flames and thats all that counts.

What a performance!

Stanne just owned the crowd, and, despite one of the guitars not working to start the show, the performance was excellent.

Although I would have liked to hear a song or two from the Gallery, I can't complain with the song choices.

Great show all around! (Plus Sentenced and In Flames also ruled. Killswitch Engage had no business on the bill, IMO).

Surprising indeed - for I were 99% sure they would play Punish My Heaven. What's your source, BiatchGuy? :err:

someone who went to the show

anyone else slightly dissapointed in DT's set? Dont get me wrong I LOVE DD, but man.....thats really lacking some spice or variation. Meh, who cares Im sure they were godly, I hope they come back around so I dont miss them like a moron :headbang:

@BiatchGuy Sorry bro, thats there permanent opener it seems hehe.

No Hedon? No Punish my Heaven? No Of Chaos and Eternal Night?

I.e. No three Cult Classics... Well, thats a bit oh dear. I hope they rectify that for European tour.

Oh... and No Hours passed in Exile? Noooooo...

Rahvin, how about merging the above post to the Tour-thread?

I for one would like to see all comments about the tour on one thread.

I'm pretty sure at least one of those songs you mentioned must be among the "...and a few more" - probably not OCaEN, though.

I seriously hope they at least play Punish My Heaven... other wise I'll only have heard one song they're playing

I also went to the DT show in SF last night. It was great, although I was so exhausted by the end of IF's set (part of this was that the climax for me came when DT played, and it seemed like forever before IF started). It was so awesome finally seeing DT play, as I've been waiting for years, and Mikael seemed very happy with the crowd response and to be finally touring the US. They did NOT play any songs from The Gallery, which disappointed me a lot--I really want to hear Lethe live still!

I am somewhat of a fan of Sentenced, but I wasn't that excited by their set. I was a little pissed off at how many people were being outright rude toward them, though. There was a lot of sarcastic cheering when the vocalist (can't remember his name) announced that they were about to play their last song. Killswitch Engage got a significantly better crowd reaction than Sentenced I thought--they were okay, but pretty boring in my opinion, and I was mainly waiting for their set to end.

DTs setlist was as follows (maybe not in this order, but I'm nearly 100% sure these are all the songs):

The Wonders at Your Feet (opener)
The Treason Wall
Haven (was psyched to hear this one)
White Noise/Black Silence
The Sun Fired Blanks
Monochromatic Stains
Zodijackyl Light
Damage Done
Final Resistance

That's the list. 5 songs in total from Damage Done!

Thats pretty much how it happend...good job Mike. I was pretty pissed at the crowds reaction to Sentenced. They are SO much better then what ideas people walked out with last night. It was great to see DT finally.. I waited 7 years or more for the chance and it was worth it. Mikael was freaking insane... he was so pumped up you could feed off his energy when he got down near the crowd singing and shaking hands. Though I never seen anyone spittle so much... hehe.

Kill switch engage was pretty crappy as Mike said. Though the only thing I liked about thier set was getting pulverized by the Bass beats...I felt like my chest was going to emplode...other then that they are shit.

No matter what people are saying about Korn errr I mean in flames I will still always like them live. No matter what changes they make I will like em live. They are good live and still a metal act to me. I was glad they did not play many new songs and almost broke my neck when they played behind space after thier opener song...bullet train I beleive it was. I dunno why but all of thier previous albums I really liked alot..whats that 6 albums that I thought were amazing...before this recent endevour "R2R". Pretty much the same set as in June when they were here. Anyway...a very good show.

Cheers,

Sat
