The ultimate metal monitor

By the way, I was perusing Sweetwater this morning, and came to the unpleasant realization that the prices of a lot of these are getting jacked up, probably because of the weak dollar  Only on ADAM's and Genelec's thus far, Yamaha, Dynaudio, and of course the American companies are fine, but arrrggghhh, the ADAM A5's and A7's are now $800 and $1150 a pair, respectively, when they were up until recently $700 and $1000.

Oh, and Moony, what exactly is this infinite baffle the O300's have? I'm curious how it makes such monstrous bass while being a sealed box (and not very large, at least compared to a dedicated sub)

My favourite Monitors for metal atm are Mackie MR8's

I Borrowed some for a night up and AB them between My NS-10s. I think they are the Perfect match.

The MR8s have a tight midrange vs the very roundish mid range of the NS10's.I like the features of both, and once i purchase some will mix between both of them.

The MR8s have the Filtering switces on the bck which really help you tweak it to your room or position in the room. I love em. Definately worth checking out.

It is indeed infinite baffle. I really don't understand it myself. I'd say those crazy efficient German he-man designers have it over me as far as acoustic and electronic principles go. Essentially it doesn't require a port to extend and 'resonate' at a particular bass frequency, so the end result is much more even, tighter bass.

The bass from those things is HUGE. When we had them in the middle of a large room they sounded unreal. When in a corner it was like more 'holyfuckstopnowplz'. If the room is very that-time-of-month in the lows, you can expect these to bring all that to the forefront.

I've noticed that the last few months on everything just about going up 5% or so. It's the weak dollar and the gas. Like now the 6505 is 1149 compared to 949 before.

BASTARDS!
