general note:

People who dont mention Slayer - Reign in blood should fuckin die. Cuz its not a matter of taste but a question of metalness...

yeah... my opinions suck! :D
It is no doubt one of the top five most influential metal CDs ever, but since it was released two decades ago, many bands influenced by them have improved upon the sound, like The Chasm for instance.

Regardless of this fact, its influence is beyond 'improvement'. Doesnt matter if a band can do it better... what matters is the fact that it was done, and a lot of modern extreme metal wouldn't exist without it.

This is just my opinion, remember. I know it wasnt the only album to influence the genre, but it certainly hit the nail on the head for a lot of people.

the chasm are without doubt great! but the first edition came out decades ago an they deserve more honor imo...

and the chasm is death metal and they have blastbeats and shit, something slayer didnt use on RIB (and in general) but still sound brutaler... no chasm song I can remember beats the destructive force of songs like Raining blood, Necrophobicm, Angel of Death etc... no comparison imo...

btw.... did you know The Chasm are supporting Mortem on a gig in the US... ist the first Mortem gig ever... hehe... look at this flyer

I know about this gig. Makes me wish I lived in Chicago. I live too damn far away. I just got into Mortem at the beginning of the month(been into The Chasm for a while), and I haven't been able to take The Devil Speaks In Tongues out of my car. Just a fucking awesome album. Death metal done the right way.
