Once you accept the fact that listening to Power Metal will in fact, not make you change your sexual orientation, you can enjoy a much wider expanse of bands from the genre. Just remember to not take it so seriously, because most of the bands that get labelled as "gay power metal" don't take their music and image to heart that seriously- or truly believe they are reincarnated versions of Lord of the Rings characters.

100% agreed. Bands like Edguy don't take themselves all that seriously either, so as long as you realize it's all tongue-in-cheek, these bands become much more listenable. The only bands I absolutely despise in the genre are Dragonfarts, Battlewhore and Crapsody, becuase they do take themselves oh so very seriously. I'm still unsure whether or not Manowar think they're srs bsns, but their music is great either way
