Playing the bass can be fun but a lot of bands just leave it as something to beef up the guitar sound, I like it when bands use it more as a separate instrument and you can hear it instead of it being left in the background as a fuzzy noise.

Sometimes that's the bass's job....It works for some bands to get crazy with the bass but with others there is just no place for it

I spoke to the guy after their last gig here in Cologne and he says he uses Fender basses, SWR amps and cabs and an Ibanez TS7 to get his bass growl as he doesn't like an "bass only" distortion pedals.
