The what's going on in Thrash thread

https://www.blabbermouth.net/news/m...h-a-back-in-black-an-lp-stacked-with-singles/

"When we were done with '…And Justice For All' and the subsequent two-year tour, there was no place to go on that path," Ulrich told Mojo. "We'd hit the wall. The last song on that album is a song called 'Dyers Eve' and it's six or seven minutes of the most crazy progressive off-the-wall stuff METALLICA is capable of doing. After playing all those songs on the road for a couple of years, we said, 'There's got to be a reset here.'"
Dyers Eve is progessive metal?

Hehe, that Slayer argument is still raging on Metal Archives. Tom's still a redneck, Sandra's still a misogynist and their music from 30+ years ago still hurts some people's feels. But now the posters are turning on each other. If you think the argument doesn't need to be discussed you're part of the problem. If you think the world needs more discussion like it you're part of the problem. If you just listen to the music and either enjoy it or dislike it without trying to make something from it you don't know how to listen to music.

I'm hoping that it's revealed, after another 30 pages of arguments, that the OP is actually Kerry King and he's just bored at home so he started a shit fight about his band to keep them in the limelight.
Hahaha! What the hell man. What a shit show. What's happened to metal heads?!

Yeah that would be hilarious if it was Kerry.

Hmm, well I always considered it fairly progressive. Lots of time changes. But I wouldn't call it progressive metal. Unless you are strictly comparing it to their 90's albums. For them it was progressive. But not even close to a band like Death.

Careful, you'll offend someone by suggesting their feelings and emotions aren't worth sharing :)
I feel that not enough is shared about how offensive songs of the 70's were. Holy shit we have Brown Sugar by the Stones. A Boy Named Sue, by Cash, China Girl by Bowie. What about my feelings do they not mean anything to anyone? However I'm strangely not offended by the 70's Aussie song by a band named The Angels (Angel City in the US) called Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again, where the chorus officially became "No Way, Get Fucked, Fuck Off!" once the audience heard it. That's just a right of expression man and I'll hear nuthin' against it!

If Kerry did out himself as the OP they'd probably spend three weeks arguing that it's not him :)

Yeah I guess I was more thinking of prog metal. Maybe I did read that wrong and he was meaning progressive as in a step forward, or at least a different direction.

After asking the question in the SNG thread about what Flots are up to I went to their FB page and found nothing news worthy. However I did find these which have an interesting tie in to redfly's SNG post.

Steve's Bday was on Nov 2 but his favourite song to play is Iron Maiden

Michael's fave is No Place and one of the comments on FB is that F&J could play that song 15 times in a row and the poster would go home from the gig happy :)

Yeah it's certainly not prog metal. But for the thrash albums of the time it was pretty progressive, and still is from what I've heard.. Although I'd say Testament had them beat. Their songs just weren't as long.

Yeah and it was different from the other songs on AJFA. But the rest of the article is just Lars and Kirk making excuses for the Black album :)

Oh man the beginning of Prisoner Of Time is so great. AK's is a strange choice. When was the last time they played that live?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe they've been playing it at secret shows :) Or maybe he just doesn't get a say in the set list....he's like Joey in Anthrax :)

Well I suppose all decades do cop it eventually but I also think the shock value of the 80's was more prominent. By the 90's and 00's people stopped being shocked by such things. Now instead of shock we are just outraged! I know they have copped shit for the lyrics but while I'm not personally offended I reckon SOD said far worse things than Angel Of Death.

It's a pub rock song and the No way get fucked bit was added by the audiences at a Blue Light Disco. Not sure if you had them but they were put on by the cops (hence the Blue Light bit because back then our cop cars only had blue lights) and run for all ages. Kind of a safe gig for kids to attend while still seeing a band that mostly played to adults in pubs. So technically a bunch of kids with police supervision added the dirty and offensive lyrics to a song that actually go radio play up to that point.

Don't you dare hurt my feelings!
