The what's going on in Thrash thread

My brother sends me some old power metal from time to time and while I can appreciate some of it I just can’t seem to have the attention span to fully engage.

Yeah power metal has that effect on me too. It's got to be good stuff to keep me listening. Victorius from Germany are the last power metal band I really got into because what's not to love about Space Ninjas from Hell coming to save us? Victorius are the right blend of stupidly funny and goofy lyrics and just enough metal to keep me interested.

Yeah thankfully our kids aren't into that shitty stuff like my nieces and that probably has a lot to do with us not liking it but I do live in fear that one day one of the kids will come home and say they want the new Parkway Drive album. What the hell can I say to that? If they do their research as they are inclined to do, they'll be able to say to me, Parkway Drive headlined over Anthrax at Bloodstock '19 and you listen to Anthrax!
Goddamn for real? Anthrax has definitely made some bad moves over the years if that's the case. Do we kick them out of the Big 4? :tickled:

Okay so as I mentioned a few times because of Chucklefuck not releasing a new album I was forced to look into the past to get something new. (Alright it's not all his fault but fuck him and his band who wont do anything new I'm blaming them for everything now!)

Anyway I started by opening YT and looking for obscure 80's thrash. Typical of YT and the way some people categorise things not everything I got was thrash, but I got a huge list. I've since looked into that list and short listed a bunch of bands worth listening to again. Obviously a lot is dependant on what I could find on YT or band camp etc but I'll throw some of the second listen worthy stuff here.

The first one for the list is Think Of Misery a 4 piece thrash band from Germany who only had one album in 1989. The album had typically bad artwork, it was fast, which some decent solos thrown in the mix. The drumming was speedy and relentless although occasionally got lost in the mix. The lyrics are kind of typical of the day, the spoken English is good but the grasp of the language is not entirely there, It's a bit like early Sodom and Destruction but with vocal sound closer to something between Sodom and Kreator. it's and impressive debut album.

Cool it's on tonight.s list. Still better than that Metal Church cover!

To be fair I can't believe a shitty band like Parkway Drive headlined a festival call Bloodstock, but I think we all know why Anthrax aren't headlining such shows.

Kick them out of the Big 4? Isn't it the Big 15 these days? :)

Technically they are eligible because it's more than 25 years since their first release, but they so far haven't even got to the nominations stage. But considering the bands that have which still haven't gotten in I think that's fair. Of course if the RNR HOF disappeared up it's own arse I don't think too many would care either.

Oh yeah, somewhere on the interwebs this weekend there is a full band interview with F&J. Apparently as a part of this interview they will also be revealing information about the new album.

Bravewords are getting as bad as Blabber with their headings. I'm not sure if Jnr uttered the same words or if Bravewords took it all on themselves but Kerry 'leaving' Megadeth seems to imply he was actually a member of the band. Interviews with Kerry himself (and possibly even Jnr), in recent months have all said Kerry never considered himself a member if the band, his focus was Slayer and he was helping out Megadeth for a few gigs.
