The what's going on in Thrash thread

I mean. Ok forget Hetfield making the crowd sing most of the song. Forget his singing of things that shouldn't be sung. Forget his yodeling. Forget that Lars has his kit stripped down so much that he couldn't play the songs right even if he could keep time. Forget that Kirk can't play most of his old solos and spends more of his time throwing his arm up like he's a badass then he does playing. And makes the same mistakes he has for 30 years...where was I going with this? :p

 All fair observations and complaints. Another crime that shouldn't go unmentioned is the lack of editing on Hardwired. It contains about 30 minutes of good music but you have to listen to another 30 + minutes of filler.

Speaking of live pretentiousness I am reminded of seeing Megadeth on the Dystopia tour and Dave took the time to tell us how grateful we should be that they were going to rehearse the title track live for us. That fucker didn't even have the vocals down so we got an instrumental version. What a tool.

I have had a grudge against Testament for years ever since they took their time getting on stage so they could watch the end of a 49ers playoff game.

Dave and his pretentiousness could fill a multi-volume encyclopaedia :) I remember in 92 during the RIP tour of OZ he introduced the band and then got to himself and said "You better know who the fuck I am". His problem was that he made it sound like a threat not an introduction. There is also a few other stories in subsequent tours of here that he's fucked up, annoyed fans, or just downright been a shithead, but none of them seem to be restricted to only Australia, similar reports have come up all around the world.

I used to have a grudge against GNR for their extremely fucked up gig here in 91. Miles out of the city, which was already bad for those of us who had to travel 2 hours to get to the city. Almost zero parking, public transport was fucked, getting into the venue (which was drag racing track) was a nightmare, it was stinking fucking hot (well over 100F) by lunch time and the lines for food were well over a hour wait. The first band (can't remember who it was) went on on time early in the afternoon, the second band Rose Tattoo went on on time. Then it pissed down rain without a temp drop, and it turned the place to mud. Skid Row went on an hour late, but at 10pm we were still waiting for GNR because Axl didn't feel the fucking time was right. GNR finally went on about midnight, played for less time than Skid Row then just walked off.

Public transport back to the city was a nightmare as 20,000 people tried to get on buses. We got back to the city at 5:30am, back to my car at my Nanna's place at 7am and the idiots I was with told me they'd keep me awake for the 2 hour drive home rather than sleep at my Nanna's place. An hour down the road they were all asleep, then not long after than I was too. I woke up between two roadside traffic signs with no idea how we got there. Sure that's not all GNR's fault, poor organisation was most of the reason, but fuck it I still blame Axl for pulling a Dave Mustaine :)

Yeah I agree a lot of filler. Like aimless jams almost.

Oh you were at that show? I remember the story of when they did that. Lol thanks Dave!
He went on some political rant when I saw them on the Countdown anniversary tour. The rant didn't even make sense.

. That's messed up.

A couple of pages ago we were talking about bands that haven't gotten off their collective arses and given us the album they said they would. I have another one to add to that list, Atrophy. Those bastards have been telling us there was a new album coming forever. They've even posted snippets of studio recordings, yet still we have nothing solid.

I have been listening to Socialized Hate and Violent by Nature in the car the last few days. I remember seeing Socialized Hate in every mag when it came out and thought the logo and album looked cool but no one here was importing it. Two years later when Violent By Nature came out the cover didn't look quite as good but I found it in a local record shop so I picked it up. I loved that album with it's hit on controversial topics like euthanasia, killing of animals for the sake of it, kids and guns, and the innocence of children. A few years later when I managed to get a copy of Socialized Hate I realised how much better Violent By Nature was and was glad I picked it up first because I'm not sure I would have bothered with their second album if I got Socialized Hate first.

Weird factoid about Violent By Nature, It's reported that the kid who modelled for the cartoon front cover is kid named Ritchie Bujinowski, he later became Ritchie Cavalera when he was adopted by Max Cav from the Seps after Max married his mother, Ritchie then went on to form American groove metal band Incite.

Wow! What?!!...See I can rewrite history too! :tickled:

I 'm gonna have to look up that album. :kickass:

Poor Max as if he doesn't have to endure the embarrassment of what Sepultura became he now has to be married to his mother!

It's probably on YT you should have looked it up 30 years ago :P

WHOA!! Thank god you're not female!!

I don't know if it's a cult classic or just classic, but it's an album I spin regularly

I've just finished listening to Devolution Series 2 - Galactic Quarantine. Apparently it's the stuff Dev was supposed to play live in the UK before covid, it's a collection of older, heavier shit from Dev and SYL as well as some newer heavy shit done live in quarantine. Not sure when my copy is going to arrive but I've ordered it for the Blu Ray.
