The what's going on in Thrash thread

The way he's releasing stuff he could do one for every world tour. Make it a full blown international story where the guy no one recognises has to kill a different bad guy on every different continent every two years. Damn, the book, sorry series, has million seller written all over it!!!
How funny would it be if Jr surpassed Mustaine's net worth?!

Okay now I've always tried to remain positive about gigs coming back. I figured in time they would come back, even if at a lower capacity. I might even have suggested gigs would come back before many others said. But I have to say I did not see this coming.

Tonight Desecrator announced a gig, not only is it a covid safe gig but its a $25 a ticket, seated at tables, with table service, thrash gig. 12 months ago I'd have never thought I'd see thrash for tables of 4. :)
Wow. The owner better have great insurance unless these people get super baked before the gig!

Given the rules I believe it's sit down and only get up to go to the dunny with social distancing in place. Not sure how many capacity is but I'm thinking it's going to be like playing to an old peoples home, feet tapping during each song and clapping at the end.

Whatever their rules I really hope the crowd don't fuck this up. We've had our fair share of protesters and general shit throwers over the last few months. The gig might not be what people want for a thrash gig but if they don't adhere to the rules there wont be any more. The last thing we need is thrash metal to be given a shitty name just like the rest of the country gave the state when lockdowns happened.

I happened across a bunch of old Nuclear Assault demos, bootlegs and live recordings the other day. Some of these are first class thrash recordings from the 80's and 90's. John's voice is unique, and sometimes he doesn't fully cut it but their music was nearly always brilliant.

Well South Australia has just had another breakout, they aren't going into lockdown yet but all those fucking dickheads telling Victorian's to wear masks and stay home 4 months ago are suddenly quiet and not on the internet. It just goes to show your country might have more of them but we have our fair share of dumb fucks who preach loudly when it barely effects them, then hide when it does, so we are no better. Hopefully Victoria learnt the hard lesson with 9 weeks of lockdown. It didn't effect us that much in the regional areas but we still pulled our weight, wore masks, stayed home where possible etc despite having zero cases. It's on the city folk now, they've got a few freedoms back if they do things right there is no reason they shouldn't keep them and their music gigs.

Holy crap I know. The idiots are mostly quite except to stick their dumb heads out every once in a while to ask why it's getting worse. The same people that said it would disappear once the election was over. You know...cause it's only in the US. Meanwhile trump hasn't been to a covid meeting in five months.

We had a very large bunch of smugness from the 'covid safe' states about why it happened to Victoria and while state rivalry is not a new thing it got a long way out of hand during the height of our second wave. Border lockdowns are ridiculous for this country, especially when testing is so quick these days, border protection would be a better way to handle it. Our second wave is nowhere near as bad as other countries but there is no doubt city wide lockdowns, work from home and masks really did help, but it was a slow process. I'm really annoyed that our government wont address the mental health problems lockdown caused. They know teen suicide and self harm reporting went up 72% during lockdown, they know that education suffered greatly, but none of them want to admit it. I understand the need to get the economy back on track and support most steps to do that but if our kids (and adults), suffering just gets ignored our economy in the future is going to suffer anyway.

I think Exodus might be first, with Flots probably beating them. Anthrax and 'deth is too close to bet on....although Scott did have an article on Blabber in the last fortnight about an album release Dave hasn't done that.
