The what's going on in Thrash thread

Oh shit yeah. Did I forget to mention I talked to Mike? Sorry! I asked him if there was gonna be one and if there was going to be jewel case version of the album. He said yes to both. I'm thinking he meant the Import will be jewel case.

Thanks Neptune!

You should have sent him my address and told him to get me a copy of the album and a shirt :)

I know we dump on Anthrax and others for their lack of effort in live streaming over the last 12 months but I can't believe it's taken Live Nation this long to work out how to use live streams to their benefit. Live Nation came out nearly 12 months ago crying poor about not being able to put on gigs, now I bet their are trying to work out how to make every band pay them for something they can do themselves. I hate to tell Live Nation (and the little dickie boys from Good Charlotte who run Veeps) but bands have worked out how to do this themselves and they don't need someone with ridiculously fees taking that away from them. Sadly though I bet there will be a lot of lazy bands who would rather pay someone else to do the work who will jump on this band wagon.

Haha! Seriously! What the F have they been doing all this time? And you're absolutely right. The bands don't need them, why would they give money to a middle man?

The really strange thing is that it appears Live Nation have been sitting on their hands, crying that making massive amounts of money off bands has dried up, but it wasn't until one of those bands came to them and showed them how gigs could be done that they realised it was possible.

The sad part is that those dickweeds from Good Charlotte think they came up with an idea to get live music back out there again and instead of telling people about it they went to Live Nation, the company who came out last year saying they were going to increase their fees to bands to ensure their revenue was back in the billions as soon as possible. Not that I want them back in this country but Joel and Benji just proved why they are only worthy of being on "The Voice" in Australia and not a real show!

I fear that adding a 'live stream' option to gigs will only make Live Nations fees higher and the bands get less money when venues start opening up again.

No they aren't. One of them, I can't remember which, got chosen for the second series of The Voice because we needed overseas stars to validate just how important The Voice was. Then he brought his brother in as the 'mentor' and apparently they were so loved...or so cheap...they were invited back to do multiple seasons. I think (but am not 100% sure) they replaced someone like Ricky Martin, then after about 4 seasons they were replaced by Boy George.

I've seen it and thought it was ok especially at the end where Kirk gets pretty nostalgic and starts to whimper!

There was a lot of potential for a clash of egos in amongst all that chatter but no one really clashed with anyone. I'm sure there is a lot of untold stories floating around but it the movie remained focused, I thought it was a great effort on behalf of the producers. The handled the deaths of Cliff and Paul really well too.

It is funny how close things so far away from each other are though. I wouldn't say our metal scene was a carbon copy of the Bay Area but we had venues like they spoke about, we had crowds like they spoke about and we did sort of have groups of bands that would always seem to hang out together. Pity we didn't have an Exodus.
