Theocracy 1st Album Update?

Hi everyone,

FYI: The band/Matt isn't receiving any payments from this site, or any other for that matter, for these digital downloads. My guess is they bought a CD and ripped the files or got them from a file sharing site. Either way, it's copyright infringement because they aren't licensed. :bah:

this website has it! its 20 bucks to join the site, but with the mp3s being so cheap, its worth it even if "Theocracy" is all your going to get...well, it beats 50 bucks anyway...

I'm not trying to come down hard on anyone, I just want to let y'all know so you don't participate!

Here's the situation: we have probably 100-150 printed Theocracy Self-titled discs left. We have fewer than 10 complete CD packages, however. My understanding is that when the album was first printed, it was outsourced to multiple vendors to get the best prices, then assembled once the parts all arrived in the same place. So we have variable numbers of all the pieces (tray cards, booklets, CDs).

We'd like to hang on to as many complete CD packages as we can since that's literally all that's left of the original album printing, which is why we no longer have them for sale on the site or on Amazon.

(edited this paragraph to remove buying info... no more CDs left!! Sorry!)

I'm really sorry I don't have better news for y'all -- but hopefully soon they'll be able to get a remastered/rerecorded version of the self-titled album out there for you! (and/or get the album on iTunes)

i just don't think that they're making anything off of the first album anymore.

I promise I'm not picking on you, guitr4God! :)

Actually, since MetalAges (record label) is no longer in business, the band is making *all* the money off the first album (rather than just a buck or two in royalties). Granted, there were some costs involved, so it's not 100% profit or anything, but it's definitely helped fund a road trip for a show now and then (San Antonio 2 years ago and the Florida trips).

I do apologize for not posting sooner - this is the busiest time of year for me at work, and without an ample stash of full CD packages, I didn't want to offer those up again.

Thanks to all of you who are out there listening to, turning your friends on to, and all-around supporting Theocracy!! You guys have NO idea how much your support means to Matt & the rest of the band. :headbang:

Thank you very much Sue for responding to my post! I've sent you a payment of 13 dollars via PayPal and my address etc. Look forward to getting the CD. :)

Now that there's a clear path to getting the album directly from the band, may I request that everyone who included or quoted the mp3panda url (guitr4God, jesseking10, and athensbum) edit your post to remove the url and put in [url removed] or something?

This thread will live via google for a long time. Let's not be providing the direct link to copyright infringement for future visitors to this page.

I found 1 available copy of Theocracy's first album on Amazon for $9 just the other day!! :D So all I'm saying is, it's worth checking amazon every once in a while--you might get lucky like I did.

Hey,

Been taking a look at this forum periodically for a few months now, and this topic just caught my eye. I too am from the UK, and as I've listened to Theocracy's first album a countless number of times on Grooveshark I think it's high time I bought it! I was wondering, is there any chance I can just purchase the album in MP3 format from the band? It would save the effort of sending a CD, but if not, $13 for the CD would be fine.

I'm relatively new to the metal scene, it was only in May last year I had a look for Christian metal and found Theocracy and Harmony, both of which I immediately fell in love with, Theocracy being my favourite :D. I really enjoy the energy of the songs, their great melodies and the amazing lyrics. Definitely a true credit to the Christian music scene and metal in general. Believe it or not, I managed to introduce my mum to Theocracy, and she enjoys the Mirror of Souls album :). I'm looking forward to the new album!

Hi JamesDS!

No digital version is available for purchase yet, but the band's working on it!

And welcome to the metal scene! Matt's the one who RE-introduced me to metal (I was a child of the 80s, after all). I had thought Dream Theater packed their bags and headed elsewhere once grunge took hold in the U.S. I honestly thought metal was dead. I now consider the 90s to be my "lost years" ;)

Wouldn't the band be able to simply set up a paypal service on the site and put the mp3's up for download there? Or are there other roadblocks?

and, out of pure curiosity, how big of a cut do services like itunes usually take from their downloads?

I think I heard that iTunes takes 30 cents out of every dollar, but I don't have a source to back that up.

Oh really? Somehow, that never reached me. Ahah, well thanks for that info. I'll have to look into it now. o_O

Well this is me from The beauty Central American Country of Costa Rica, and believe me, here is a litlle hard get original metal cds (booklet + case...) and it is almost imposible to get Original cds of Christian Metal Music. I never have bought anything on the internet and don´t have any credit card, I want to get the cd but I don´t know how is it posible? do I have any chance?, I can pay but the way to get the money to the band is the problem.

Last year when i asked Ulterium Records about the first album they answered there were plans to record real drums for a re-release that would probably come after the third album.
Will this happen yet ? Would be great if the band use some time in the sessions for the third album to records the drums for the first one and then release again. :headbang:
