Theories of the Universe

I like the bang-and-crunch theory. It really makes sense. The thing is, how do we prove it?

It's just one of those things you either accept or dismiss (seeing as you can't prove somthing if you no longer exist)

I saw a program on the Science Channel last night about how it may be possible to create a wormhole by stacking lasers on top of each other, intersecting from 90-degree angles, stacked with steadily increasing power until it creates a distortion in space time (like when you stir a spoon in a cup of coffee). The scientist thinks that this can theoretically create a wormhole that may be able to create pathways across "wrinkles" in the fabric of space-time, and thus allowing time travel.

Wouldn't a wormhole, or distortion in space time theortically distort matter as well? One of the main problems with time travel is the end result: The particles being broken apart will not reassemble (in the exact same formation) on the other end of the vortex.

But I think it's a waste of time (no pun intended) and I thank Chaos Theory for my reservations against going back in time. Going forward, however, is a different story.

I don't believe in Chaos Theory. I think matters naturally resolve themselves for the better.

I just think it's quite reasonable to think that the trivial instances in a long enough sequence, whereby each consecutive event is dependent on the previous, can add up to something profound.

Well it also depends on your perspective. You could argue that everything is reduced to solitude which is the opposite of chaos. When you dead, you're obviously not in a chaotic state.
