Therion

No. The older stuff is average at best. The newer stuff just isn't my thang. I think Theli is horribly overrated.

If I want the orchestra/metal thing, I'll listen to Hollenthon.

If you're gunho about buying some Therion, go with Symphony Masses or Lepaca Kliffoth (sp?) or if you want some semi-brutal death, go with the first two, Of Darkness and something else.

I'm indifferent about Secret of the Runes - I bought it because I'd never seen a bad review for it. I think metal observer gave it a 10/10. I've had it for a year, and listened to it perhaps twice....

Anyway, I went back to it the other day, and I'm still indifferent. Female opera over metal is something I've always disliked (especially with bands like Nightwish). However, song #6 on the album, "Ljusalfheim", is really very excellent. It has a different vibe to the rest of the CD. Is anyone else familiar with this song?

I have to be in the modd for Therion.

If you have the ability (like Evil C, who hooked me up with the new EXODUS last night..) to find songs online, I would highly suggest you check out these THERION songs..

"Raven Of Dispersion" from Vovin

"Flesh Of The Gods" from Deggial[/] (which also features Hansi from Blind Guardian on lead vocals), in fact Deggial is one of their best albums, period.

Their cover of CELTIC FROST's "Sorrows Of The Moon" from Lepaca Kliffoth

All of Theli and Symphony Masses: Ho Drakon Ho Megas

Good start... :D

Geez, I need to hear this song with Hansi - I can only imagine. Is there any way you can convert this to MP3 and e-mail it to me?

My wife recently downloaded some Therion songs for her "workout" mix. I don't own any Therion, but that right there tells me to stay the hell away. I don't even know how she heard about them.

definetally YES. I like ALL their stuff, except "Of Darkness". Everything they did was super interesting, and of high quality. What i like is that they dont have the snobish attitude towards traditional heavy metal that some other "symphonic bands" have, and they have wild influences from Manowar, Accept, even Running Wild!
And they are EPIC (and the more epic the better)

I very much enjoy Beyond Sanctorum.

The newer stuff is ok if I am in a Wagner type mood, which happens like 1 hour of one day a year. And if i may complain, In Deggial, Therion raped the scorpions riffs, which was quite weird when mixed with a full chorus.
