I typically hate the idea of remakes (Suspiria, TX Chainsaw Massacre, The Ring, etc.)

wow, this does sound amazing. gene wilder was pretty awesome at being happy & genial yet weird and oddly dangerous, but i bet mr. depp will be equally so. i just don't know how he'll be in relating to the kids on screen- can't recall him in much with little kids.

I think with the combination of Burton and Depp this version is going to be considerably darker, of which I am in favor. A lot more of stuff like the scene where they see all the horrible stuff on the riverboat ride. I also think, chupe, that this may end up being less for kids than the original.
