this list is quite funny....

I really liked acouple of dave's solos on some of the 'rust in peace' album. I can't say that I was impressed by anything else from him. He's not even close to being one of the best lead guitar player in metal imo.

Regardless kirk and dave have completly different styles of playing. Both have been compared to so much that it's tiresome.

Agreed. I don't think that Children of Bodom could sell out, they are still under the mainstream's radar, compared to Slipknot and bands like them. I think Alexi just wanted to take a heavier approach, and I enjoy the music, and even though it may be against someone else's tastes it still doesn't stop me.

What the hell did I just say? That sentance is a little disturbing.
The word fucking simply should not be pput in the middle of certain words.

Children of Bodom is a good band, I don't care what anyone says about "Are You Dead Yet?". It may not have been the same trademark sound, but it was enjoyable and beats out most other popular metal bands. Hopefully the newer fans who were converted by this album will delve into their earlier works and see how much better and virtuosic they were in those days, though.

Seriously all i can say is fuck this album and anyone who listens to it. The wankers in my town who think they know "metal" talk about this fucking album everytime i see them, in which on every occasion i have to tell them i don't care and no i think pantera sucks. They do not look deeper into the scene, they talk about the same few bands and albums for months on end and listen to bands me and my mate mentioned months ago to them (usually because we went to there concert or whatever e.g behemoth) and then 6 months later they say that band is cool and try to tell me how good it is like they discovered them
Old bodom had some good work, but this new album is bullshit central, every song has the same chug chug "so heavy" playing and any sign of a riff is shitted out the window.

As for the person who made the comments on kirk not being good and using St Anger to compare his work, i can only guess that you either don't know metallicas albums or are just jumping on the "Metallica is shit" bandwagon to "fit in". If you had seen Some Kind of Monster, you would know that kirk wanted to do solo's on that album, of which it contains none which again adds to how stupid your comparison was. I agree with who ever said they both have different styles and are both great, because i like megadeth just as much as metallica, but i would have to say kirks solo's are more memorable and some of megadeths great solo's are Marty's work anyway.

AYDY still beats most of what other shit poser metalheads think is cool. I do love old Bodom and AYDY is at the bottom of my list of favorite albums by them, but the new album was still enjoyable.

As for the Hammett/Mustaine controversy, I am not jumping on the bandwagon. My direction was recent stuff, saying that St. Anger is hailed by unknowing people as being a "new, refreshing sound" while "The System Has Failed" passes by without a single mention. I do like Metallica, but their new albums do not appeal to me. Megadeth has done a better job at keeping my attention swith post-80's work.

That list makes me so sick. Like 3 of those "Black Metal Guitarists" are actually in BM bands... Well I'm sure this has all been pointed out so I'll skip it.

Wes Borland and Munky?! I used to love those bands but I know they aren't great guitarists by any means.

Yngwie pwns everyone on that list. (Unless I skipped over anyone.)

Bottom line: that list is uninformative and inaccurate by any standards, and a sickening amount of them aren't even metal guitarists. Metal-related articles should be left to the metal magazines, not trendy mainstream zines that worship Christian Aguilera as God and gives bands like Slayer 2/5 stars.

the depressingly sad thing is hit parader is a metal magazine.

Hit Parader to me seems like a late 90's nu-metal/rap metal/rock mag more than being an actual metal mag. They would like to believe so.

I don't know who you hang around or where you talk metal online, but it has been in my experience that St Anger has been hailed as the epitome of shitness, and Megadeth praised for getting back on track (along with arguments of what people think of Mustaine himself with his whole religion bullshit :p )
You do relise, like the Greys said, Megadeth did go into a shit phase through out the 90's as metallica is going through now. And you have changed the argument from what you think of Hammet to what you think of St Anger which wasn't why i replied to you.

Perpetual Catatonia it has already been pointed out that none of those guitarists are in black metal bands. Which do you think are?

Dave Mustiane is overrated and putting him on the list would not have made it any less shitty.
overated my ass, he shits all over anything metallica ever did even though i like metallica better!
