Interested to find out if you are more or less excited about this year's lineup compared to last years.

I'm more excited about this year's lineup. While I was pretty excited for many of the bands on last year's lineup (especially Virgin Steele, Redemption, and Sonata Arctica), there are just more bands on this year's that excite me. Maybe its not fair since there are two more bands this year than last. If Astral Doors was still on the roster it would be my favorite going in (out of the last 4).

Last year I bought my tickets on ebay 2 days before the show so I had put no effort into getting to know the bands that I did not already know. Since I already know that I am going this year and have familiarized myself with the lineup, this year is highly anticipated, especially Iron Savior and Amorphis.

NP: Falconer - Chapters From A Vale Forlorn

Every year, Glenn announces at least 4 bands I have never heard.
This year, it is 9 (so sue me, I have less time to listen than most).
I get to spend the next 7 months listening/discovering/enjoying 9 bands I have not thought of before.

To me, the journey is just as important as the destination--so I am equally excited every year.

This year I am more excited about the line than any year previous. This is the most diverse line-up ever, and in the same vein you will see some bands you might never ever have gotten to see here in the states.

Currently, I am less excited about this year than I was about last year, but that's just because at this point I don't know/own a whole lot by the bands that have been announced. I knew a lot more of the bands last year prior to them being put on the bill. That's ok, I have plenty of time to familiarize with this year's bands, and who knows, maybe in the end I will say that this was a better year than last year ... although, I think for me, Threshold, Primal Fear, After Forever, plus the All-Star Jam are going to be extremely hard to top.

More excited, for sure.

And I think it's because I didn't know as many of the bands. The thrill of discovery, and the joy of listening to very cool new music tips the scales for me.

Plus, IE with Barlow, Elvenking, Pathosray, Riverside, Andromeda, VolBeat, and Spheric Universe Experience push me over the top. (I realize I just named nearly ever band playing, but that's how excited I am about the line-up.)

I'm really digging the lineup this year, but seeing Primal Fear last year was, well, just ask Brent how I was acting then. I would have paid the $100 just to see them, let me put it that way.

There are only three bands that I care about this year:Iron Savior, Iced Earth, Elvenking. Iron Savior are good but not great. I have seen Iced Earth already, and I am not going to spend $1000 (when all the expenses are included) to see 45 minutes of Elvenking. This is a line up that leans heavily towards prog bands and whatever it is that Amorphis plays. I will be missing my first progpower since PPIII. :waah:

I'd have to say just almost equal, but a little less excited. But only by a little. The reason last year will be impossibly hard to top for me was the fact that Pagan's Mind was a band I had waited for five years to see, and I just COULDN'T believe I was actually going to see them after all that time.

Not only am I excited about this year's line-up more so than last years, but there are some other things to celebrate this year and it makes me more excited than ever.

1) Mrs & Mr. Claus Jensen party for those that can't make wedding.( Tess and Claus)
2) Alicia's birthday that weekend(Dragongrrrrrl)
3) As of today 99% probability I will retire Sept 30, 2008

I'm not totally fired-up-excited about the line-up like I was last year...but I am very impressed with the diversity of the line-up and Glenn's ongoing quest to shake things up.

I predict that, when it's over...it will be one for the recordbooks. I prefer PPUSA to remain a bit obscure and different and continue to expand the North American metal scene...and Glenn is definitely bringing a different mix to our shores this year...that's what keeps me excited and keeps the anticipation at a high...

Rock on!
