Throwing another bone...

For me the "most improved after their ProgPower appearance" is Nightingale w/ Dan Swano. Jag Panzer's also a repeat that must happen soon. I would be fine with Symphony X coming back too.

They really have improved dramatically in the past few years. I'm not sure they're a band that many people care enough about to warrant a return trip though

I don't know that a band needs a ton of buzz to return. But if Glenn wants a fairly unique band that never tours and has improved dramatically in the last seven years, it's hard to beat Wuthering Heights in a middle slot.

I try to think of other bands that could return, but either they've been here two times or more already, or they haven't really increased their exposure since then. Most of the really buzzworthy returning bands already played PPX and Glenn has a two-year rule now. So any returning band is from PPIX or before. And who, other than Wuthering Heights, has a) played only one other time, and b) improved since their first appearance?

Symphony X makes sense since they haven't been here in eight years. I case can also be made for Stratovarius I guess, since they'll have another new album out by PPXII and will probably be building their US tour around PP. Could be JOP, since Glenn's an Oliva fanboy.

Those are the only four I find realistic, and I'm guessing Wuthering Heights because the other three would be headliners and for some reason I have a feeling that Glenn's shooting for first-timers in the top slots next year.

BTW, if it is a headliner, I say Strato, given the timing of their likely album and tour next year.

Um, has everyone forgot about a little band from Germany called .....wait for it........ GAMMA RAY?!?!?

As for you Blind Guardian lovers, It'll be a cold day in Hell before BG plays PP again. I think Hansi still has that Atlanta PD card Glenn gave him. :muahaha::muahaha::muahaha::tickled::grin:

Just occurred to me, but I think it's also very possible for Devin to make his return as well.

That'd be awesome indeed, but I just don't see it happening.

I agree with Sabaton coming back. However...

Sabaton IS NOT HEADLINER MATERIAL!

Glenn HAS stated otherwise...I'm about 50/50 on this possibility. The new CD hasn't gotten too much traction; if it had, I'd be more certain of headliner status for them.

When is it that Blind Guardian is doing a U.S. tour.Is it next year? Could it be them?

With an album dropping a bit later this year, I'd be surprised if they'd hold off on a US tour until late summer of NEXT year.....
.....but still. BG -did- "make" this festival -- from a financial standpoint -- at PPUSA III.

I still think that although Sabaton is a band that would kick ass as a headliner, they'd probably NOT bring anyone to ProgPower that wouldn't be coming otherwise. I could be wrong like I said, and I'd love to be proven wrong.

My guess is Wuthering Heights. As great as they were at PPV, this is a band that has improved by leaps and bounds with their last two releases. No previous band is more overdue for a second appearance than Wuthering Heights.

I missed them at PPV, so I'd like to see them. Salt's been getting some fantastic reviews.

Milton, is that because of amount of material (I really don't know)? While I'm not a fan, I thought they did a GREAT job of ripping that place apart. The place was packed and people were going NUTS during their set. They were also nice guys and true professionals. They are the only band I remember not wanting a sound check. They had their sh*t together, got up there, were very easy to work with, and had their set going in no time! And good God, did I mention the energy they had on stage?!?!?!

I don't know, I may not be a fan, but from my vantage point, they were quite capable of putting on a show that melted faces!

Seriously, are you guys insane?!?

If Glenn sign them as a headliner next year, I'll bite my tongue. But I don't care what anyone says, they're NOT headliner caliber. I love the band, but they're just not there yet! They're not at that level just yet.

My guesses on who may be returning?

Sabaton (NOT as a headliner)
Evergrey
Angra
