Tiamat - Prey

I just got this album today... WOW... I´d heard some material from this guys from earlier albums but I didn´t think much of them... then I heard the songs Cain and Carry your Cross and I´ll Carry Mine... bought the album and it´s just incredible, they have improved SO much.

Any Tiamat fans on the board?

I used to have 'Skeleton Skeletron', but I thought it was pretty uninteresting

The Astral Sleep sounds nothing like it. It is one of their early albums. Wildhoney is definately more like it but still different. Wildhoney to many people is the essential Tiamat albums. It is good.

Yes, but that wasn't exactly my question. If they were death metal to begin with, then how did they compare with the other Swedish death metal bands?

its sort of like the early doom death stuff. It is death metal at all.

Similar story to anathema... both bands sound much better now in my opinion

I've been buying Tiamat stuff since The Astral Sleep was released. I think Clouds, Wildhoney, A Deeper Kind Of Slumber, and Prey are their best. Judas Christ had some god stuff on it but fell short of my expectations. Same for Skeleton Skeletron. Summerian Cry just sounds so amateurish that I don't quite count it.
