Well, my number one band on the list is Orphaned Land, so on my side.. .Yes, they're the reason!

But for most people I'd say is the conception effect...

I think Prog acts have very little to do with anything related to sales. You don't see any of them making big waves in the Euro scene, Japan is lukewarm except to DT and the USA only has a smattering of fans. If Prog moved tickets, we'd see more Prog shows, cd sales, and merchandise and we just don't.

I think it's a bit of Pink Cream 69, Stratovarius, Therion all put together. yes, they're touring but you'd pay as much to see Strat/Therion separately almost as you will to see them plus PC69 at 1 ProgPower show. Just my 2 cents.

I don't think it's all about the money... the tickets and all.... It's more a matter of who Glenn wants to have at HIS show... For you, Strat, Therion and PC69 may be the reasons.... For a lot of other people, Conception is the name (Glenn as well I believe)... It's most likely we'll see Strat and Therion here in the US again... I wouldn't say the same about Conception though....

I understand that the headliners have to be Power Metal bands to sell more tickets... But, I personally believe most people want to see the other bands more than Strat and Therion...at least that's what I've been gettin from the posts of everyone...

If I remember a discussion on this in the past - it' true that more of the forum people are the progressive fans at PP. But when you look at the number of tickets and the number of PP forum people - it doesn't match close at all.

It always seems lots of the power metal fans are unspoken until the date of the concert and then it's like "Where the hell are you guys on the forum?!." Example, when Gamma Ray played III, I had no clue there would literally be THAT many people going crazy over them.

On this board, yes. Prog bands get everyone around here excited. Power bands bring the sellout in 2 days. That's the way I see it.

Look, I'm Glenn!!

There are at least 50 tickets available as of 1200am EST.

:loco:
I just punched in an order of 50 tickets, just to see how many were left, and they were available, so I released them back to the public. I guess sales slow down more than we thought after the initial burst.

Yes it happens every year, the show will sell out. One might consider that playing with ticketmaster and tying up unsold tickets might be interfering with other peoples attempts to actually by them. Glenn knows the ticket count and this isn't doing him any favors.

I dont think Circus Maximus has really anything to do with it, they have 0 background, 0 albums out, and only a few samples.

I think that Stratovarius finally getting over to the US on their reunion- certainly didn't HURT sales. I dont think any 1 band really brings the crowd, but the Prog scene IS growing, slowly but surely, I've been seeing it more and more, hell even saw some Symphony X swag at the Dregs show last night.

Just my $2/100

Yeah man, that's the worst. I hate it when guys tie up tickets, sitting around dillydallying at their computer for the 2hour limit before buying.

No seriously, I know you aimed that at me, and of course Glenn doesn't need any favors from me. But I said I released the tickets right away, I had them for less than 30 seconds. Calm yourself.
I mean, I think you're right, but I checked tickets with discretion and don't think I interfered.

Can't afford tickets right now? That's what credit cards are for.
Bought my 2 tickets today around 2pm even though the person taking the 2nd still isn't 100%. But I figure if things don't work out, people will be looking once they sell out and I can at least get my money back.

Personally, the show itself is what interests more so than than who's going to be there. This will be my first one as I really only got into Prog metal in the last 2 years. I never knew of Orphaned Land before they were announced and now they're on constant rotation on my iPod. I've also been pimping them to other people. Having Stratovarius and Therion did help things from the beginning but now I'm most looking forward to seeing Orphaned Land and I'm only dissapointed a little they're in the 3rd spot on Friday so they don't get a hour and a half.

I should do that too, since a friend of mine isn't 100% sure if he can go to ProgPower or not. But I'm too young to have my own credit card so I have to use my mom's, and she's not a risk-taker enough to buy a ticket that might have to get sold. Oh well, that's one more ticket that someone else can have!

I've been to ever every prog Power since the III one, which is the first one that I found out about. I wouldn't miss it for the world! IMO, the big draws this year are Stratovarius and Therion, that is, for me, anyway. I know PC 69 and Angra are excellent as well.

I honestly thought that this lineup wouldn't sell out as quickly as last year's, what with Stratovarius and Therion having U.S. tours and all. However, those in the Atlanta area alone my be interested in seeing those bands. In addition, Angra was a huge draw for the third one, and seeing as how they don't have a U.S. tour lined up (at least yet), this could be the Americans' only chance of seeing them for a long time. I personally think Conception is a big draw, too. Overall, though, the sheer diversity of this lineup could be bringing in the fans, not to mention the growing popularity of the festival. No matter what the reasons are, I'm glad I have my ticket. Kudos, Glenn!

Stay metal. Never rust.

Well I talk to a lot of metalheads and the draw for the show this year is definitely Angra, followed by Stratovarius and, would you believe it, Orphaned Land. I like Orphaned Land, but to be honest I'm most looking foward to seeing Dreamscape at the preparty! :hotjump:

With the caliber of bands at the pre-party, it really is a third night of Progpower this year, rather than just a warm-up.

I mean, Lance King, Rusty Cooley, and two bands that are already main stage bands?
