Greetings!
Don't know if this belongs to this section. But i've just stumbled across this fb page:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Timo-Tolkki-Mixing-Mastering-Service/151812668250238?sk=info

And first though; hey I didn't know he offered his services (don't really know how his work is, but he has been producer for many bands already)

and then saw his rates. I mean 800 Euros for a 12 track album Mixed and Mastered. Isn't that a bit cheap? Assuming he has had a lot of experience and gear? and mostly because some of the younger melodic metal fans because of his name will automatically assume he is the best and there for this will kinda be a bugger for the rest.

Is this eaven real? i mean i don't know, my rates are almost the same and my name isn't known at all and my gear is kinda lame. hmmm Would still want to listen to some of his work.

What do you think?

My god Jarkko... that's terrible. hahaha

I HAVE to quote one of the latest comments on that video though:
"Flawless, that's just all I can say, it's beauty and perfection is just something rarely found in music, if the whole world really took their time to really listen to this album the world would be a better place."

hahaha. I pissed myself!

It´s cheap but I don´t know if it´s good. Elements Pt1 is a good sounding album, but it seems that the guy behind Stratovarius sound is Mikko Karmila, not Tolkki. Not to mention that he must be a damn crazy fuck to work with.

I think he mixed 9 Degrees West of the Moon from vision divine and for what I remember it wasnt a great mix, the low end was boomy and undefined.

I'd rather spend my money on engineers of this forum than on Timo Tolkki. No offense but Stratovarius always sounded cold and souless to me.

He didnt mix stratovarius albuns. It was mixed in Finnvox Studios. I can recognize a mix from there miles away!lol a lot of bands that mixed there sound too similar. Stratovarius, sonata arctica, thunderstone, older children of bodom, nightwish.

some friends of mine who will remain nameless had one of the 1st recordings done by him. They told me after they heard the finished version, they thought there was something wrong with the stereo they were listening to it on. They proceeded to bash him badly

Timo was a really good guitarist at one time and he definitely was largely responsible for the success Strato had, but not for their good sounding cds

someone said it above, I would rather pay that amount of money to several people on this board because I know I would get a far superior product than what Timo could provide

Damn, i which I knew which band that is cause i'm pretty sure one of the bands i'm working with will mension me about this saying that why he charges this and me that and bla bla. Guess I'll have to show them this threat. :P

The old CoB stuff was produced, tracked and mixed by Kippo/Astia Studio. AFAIK Are You Dead Yet was their first Karmila/Finnvox mix.

Yeah, I know Finnvox, 2 of my albums were mastered there.
Sorry, I thought Stratovarius albums were mixed by TT. In any case he is not my cup of tea and his playing is cold and boring... that is why Strato sounds tha way.
