I've always loved the old school thrash clanky bass.

I think I got pretty close with the following:

70's Fender musicmaster bass
Basslines SCPB-3 Quarter-Pound Single-Coil P-Bass Pickup
Cobalt Hybrid slinky Ernie Ball bass strings
Tech 21 SansAmp Bass Driver DI (all settings on 5 apart from bass on 6)
