Been putting it off forever but I start building my traps today. It's been a long time coming. This is only about half of the stuff I will be using before I'm done.

Just don't strip naked and rub the wool on your skin and you'll be fine :) Wear a long-sleeved shirt, tuck the sleeves inside your gloves and make the joint tight. Helps a ton!

EDIT: Oh, and when you wash yourself afterwards, cold water is your friend. If you use hot water, your skin lets the small particles inside and that itches like hell.

I had to bring all of it home in a closed vehicle. My forehead was itching like crazy! I'm all prepared now though... I hope haha. We'll see!

EDIT: Oh and thanks for the tip about the shower. Makes sense but I'm sure at shower time I wouldn't have even thought about it.

Yeah, I've insulated several houses with this stuff when I was a construction worker and I actually just found out about the cold water trick last Monday when making some more panels  Felt like a moron :)

I have 2 big panels on both corners behind the monitors and another 4 "naked" ones... :S I can't find wood for it at the moment but I really need it :S No problems so far, not even itchiness

I still have doubt about these materials. Don't know....I have the fear that the particles could go out of the cloths that cover the bass traps.

Shouldn't be a problem, as long as no one attacks the traps with a baseball bat.

I've seen pics of people wrapping them in thin plastic film, but that reflects back so is not recommended for first reflection points.

Unless you get some radioactive, mold-covered mutant wool for the panels, it isn't dangerous to your health at all. All of the stuff sold hear clearly states the material is not dangerous, and unless you attack the panels with a baseball bat as vespiz put it, they really won't choke you with the particles or anything.

and it could act like a membrane, which would increase low end absorption performance, but room treatment starts getting much more complicated at that point.

Also, according to Glenn who owns GIK Acoustics, any small fibers that happen to enter your lungs dissolve in a matter of days. Seems true to me considering the amount of bare roxul I have had in my room for months. I also did all the cutting in here without any kind of mask. No problems so far.

I'll be doing this on Wednesday when I get home. I've had my frames made for about a month now but I've been waiting on the Rocksilk arriving. They phoned me when I was in the airport heading for Amsterdam to tell me it had arrived. FML

How did you get on with your traps mate? Finished mine this evening, I'm totally knackered now though. Lack of sleep plus working on this all day.

Got my new rack case to sort out and a couple of more traps that I'd like to make and mount yet. Busy day for the studio room :)

I still have a few left to do. Making 20 total. Had some technical difficulties but got workin again. Hard to do much during the week with work and all but I think I'll be finishing up today. Here's a pic of the first one I made.

I know it's a little late, but just FTR:
Before you're gonna buy wood, take a look @ IKEA, the frames(storage racks, dunno how you call it) are so damn fucking cheap, it's sometimes much more expensive to buy wood.
