Tom mic suggestions.

Lover of all boobage.
So I think this is my next upgrade and I am going to do it this month (provided my friend wants my current mics) I need 3 tom mics and my budget is around $300 for the 3 of them but I suppose I could go a little over. I was thinking used pack of e604s but I am open to other suggestions.

Suggestions?

Not really about the shures
The two best choices are three e604s or two Audix D2s and one D4 for the floor (or just another D2). I would prefer the Audixs. Another good choice will be two Opus 88s and one 87.
:)

So D2 are hpercardioid right?
I've always wondered how much it matters regarding bleeding from the cymbals.
I seem to remember Andy saying that D2's were pretty close to MD421 so if true, the real difference lies in the directivity patern.
Also,I'm curious to hear about the e904.

wasn't there a mic-shootout thread here?
if this wasn't covered I could record Samples with D2 vs. 421 tomorrow (Incubator are entering the studio, so I'm recording drumsn anyway...)

Yeah, but if I remember well (I usually remember very well) there were no 421s there.
It would be great to make this comparison for us! And you can may be check the bleeding with some hits of the other drums! :)

Danke im Voraus!
