Hey guys,
A couple weeks ago I was messing with my home made amp and testing my guitars, a SG and a Cort M600, and the Cort sounded VERY dark, to the point I needed to dial the treble to 8/9 while the same tone could be achieved with the treble on '6'. OK, guitars sound different from each other. But then, I was reading the PRS pickups thread a few days ago and someone commented a given PRS was 'too dark' for metal. At the same time, I was tracking some DIs for a band I recorded and the stuff done with my guitar sound absurdly more muffled in comparison with the band's guitars (a cheap guitar with a dimebucker).
So, all this being said, is there ANYTHING I can do to make this guitar, the Cort, sound more open? To make things worse, I am using a 85 on its bridge - I tried a 81 and it sounded meh for my taste, and the 85 has an incredible feel, so i stuck with it. Has anyone tried a smaller cap in place of the .1uF (IIRC) cap EMG puts on its pots?
Cheers,
Ivan
