top 10 television series

Family Ties
The Brady Bunch
The Flintstones
Sex and the City
The Muppet Show
Happy Days
Full House
Sesame Street
The Big Bang Theory
I Dream of Jeannie

The Rifleman.
Pawn Stars.
The Walking Dead.
Dual Survival.
Gold Rush.

I watch some other stuff here and there, but usually just news and UFC. I'm more into DVDS than cable.

I have Game of Thrones on DVD, still on the first season.

Eek! The Cat and Animaniacs deserve a spot on a list

I considered Animaniacs, but Eek! The Cat honestly creeps me out for some reason. 90s slapstick stuff in general tbh, something really uncomfortable about the crudeness, the thin wiry animation style, the Dadaist title cards, and the stock jazz music soundtracks. Duckman is the only one I can watch without feeling like I'm watching cartoons for wealthy snuff porn addicts (and that's probably only because the writing makes up for it).

The Sopranos
Breaking Bad
Fargo
The Wire
Game of Thrones
Six Feet Under
The Young Ones
The Simpsons (before it went shit)
Seinfeld
Curb Your Enthusiasm

Honourable mentions:
Peep Show
Blackadder
Big Train
Mad Men
Big Love
Deadwood (would be in my top ten for sure if it hadn't been cancelled)
Carnivale (as above)

TNG is the best series of all time. Fuck The Wire, The Sopranos and everything else.

I do like The Sopranos though.

The West Wing hasn't been mentioned by anyone either so there.

off the top of my head:

DRAMA
twin peaks (first season is all-time number 1 pick)
the wire
deadwood
elfen lied
death note
claymore
breaking bad
justified
buffy
veronica mars

COMEDY
the simpsons
arrested development
south park
fawlty towers
father ted
peep show
limmy's show
space ghost c2c
jam
the thick of it
extras
it's always sunny
downtown
FLCL
xavier: renegade angel

i have tons of acclaimed TV still to see, but i can highly recommend all of the above. also, house and prison break are huge guilty pleasures. 24 is a huge mostly unguilty pleasure, it's mostly so good. also love old cartoons like ren and stimpy, taz/animaniacs/pinky, wacky races, x-men, courage the cowardly dog, rocko's modern life etcetcetcetc.

shoutout to 3am favourites takeshi's castle, banzai and robot wars. and i watch pointless nearly every day.

I agree on Twin Peaks S1 but the first part of S2 (up to and including solving the murder) is just as good and gets alot of slack for the second part imo.

And wtf Elfen Lied? When there are so much anime to choose from why choose a mediocre one with just abit of shock-value? :)

What about the Berserk-manga? I mean the anime is like the animated version of the prologue.

Yeah the Berserk manga is quite good too. Some parts are not for me (child rape etc.). I do prefer the band of the hawk and early black swordsman story arcs to the more recent stuff. All the kids and faeries recently made it kind of annoying.

claymore is basically a berserk knock-off with chicks, and it rules. i need to see more berserk.

And wtf Elfen Lied? When there are so much anime to choose from why choose a mediocre one with just abit of shock-value? :)

'cause it's fucking unhinged and devastating is why. but ya i know it's a very love/hate thing. it does have a very passionate core fanbase.

ya buffy is pretty widely regarded as TV canon, man. it's a little filler-heavy but it's rarely not fun, and when it's on it's really on.

first season of V MARS is underrated to me and i know a few people who agree with that. the surface could be mistaken as silly fun/melodrama for alt- teen girls and it works just fine on that level, but it's smart, elegantly constructed/performed and really quite dark, emotionally charged stuff at times. it's actually improving with age methinks.
