IM humble O: there are some people who are MISSING, and some who shouldn't even be on the list!

Oh no .. Not this... That list is fuckin bullshit..... Why the hell is it here??? It's the same exact one I read over at Blabbermouth earlier today and it's already caused enough trouble between people over there. All it is, is a list of popularity and not of actual talent. I think its a disgrace that now I have to read it on the James Murphy board too. It's just shameful and blasphemy to the true master for which this board was setup for. Even if we wanna get into commercial players, Randy Rhoads isn't even on that list making it truely discreditable. One thing I will say is atleast Hendrix got the #1 slot.

uh, chill, i didn't post this to disrespect or discredit james in any way !

i think the list is a joke myself, and was curious to see what other people had to say about it. after all, this IS a great guitarist's forum.

LOL! I know! Sorry! I was just messing around. You know, letting others know that JM is above all that list crap! I'm just glad I'm not in the U.K. where that mag is at. We may have cheesey guitar mags here but that little blip of a list makes me think it could be worse. Yes this is a great board. I'm starting to like ultimatemetal's boards more than any board I've ever used. no pop ups and cookies rule. I notice you post all over the damn place! hehe.

take care

I don't know about all of that, but here is a list of 20 players I love, off the top of my head. This list includes new as well as old, is in no particular order or ranking, and will undoubtedly miss somebody that i will kick myself for later.

Shawn Lane
Allan Holdsworth
Mike Stern
Randy Rhoads
Tony Iommi
Ace Frehley
Uli Roth
Adrian Smith
Dave Murray
Bill Connors
John Scofield
John Williams
Scott Henderson
Frank Gambale
Vinnie Moore
Tony Macalpine
Bill Steer
Don Mock
Carl Verheyen
Brett Garsed

There are soooo many more.... wait... ahhhggghh!! Marty Friedman and Jason Becker!!!

Ok that's 22... sue me!

I can imagine the absence of death/heavy metal guitarists and obscure fusion freaks in that top 100, but where's Al DiMeola ?

btw, US-guitarmags are just as bad as UK ones.

Greg Howe's playing with 'N Sync (or was it the Backstreet Boys ?) so he pretty much "deleted" himself from the list.

It's a joke, don't bother to inform me about the killer stuff he did.

yeah and most of all where is GREG HOWE!

Chill out man, you know how hard it is to be a solo fusion player these days? The man does it to pay the bills.

Here's my list, very heavy on neo-classical and fusion.

Tony Macalpine - Gretest ever, no contest
Greg Howe - How the hell did he do that?
Yngwie Malmsteen - My first shredder album and still my hero
Joe Stump - Awsome chops and a really cool dude
Allan Holdsworth - No, stop, your killing me!
Paul Gilbert - So do you really have 8 fingers on each hand?
Jason Becker - I liked the part when he did the sweeping
Marty Friedman - That's weird, I like it
George Bellas - I hate you cuz your better than me
Zakk Wylde - More metal than a school bus
James Murphy- Great picking
Frank Gambale - If there's sweeping it's good!
James Byrd - The man's got the tone
Steve Morse - The man could join a black metal band tomorrow and fit perfectly

Chill out? My god what ever do you mean?!?!? This is a serious situation, sir. :yow: It can not be taken lightly! I mean it is by a magazine of all things! It should be taken like it's the word of christ! It is to late for letting this go! I've already broken off all ties with this message board and my family. I have sold all my personal possesions and placed a order with the help of a few muslim extremists and purchased a dirty bomb made of this new thing called "blue pepsi" and I am traveling to the UK to protest this thing they call a best guitarists list. I mean after all what would life be if main stream media was to not able control my vision of what is talent! I can't stand thinking for myself! Thats to much work and it hurts after awhile! So I am making a pledge to march down to their office and force them to rewrite history since their opinion is the most important! I will not stop untill freedom is reached and they have made "Noodles" #1 . I mean if we are going to screw this up lets go all out and make mother earth proud!!!

pfffft! :)

anyways.
My personal fav list (without proper order) would go:

1/2. Greg Howe / James Murphy (Changes from day to day)
3. Chuck Schuldiner
4. Jason Gobel
5. Paul Masvidal
6. Santiago Dobles
7. Brett Garsed
8. Tommy Victor
9. Justin Broadrick
10. Adam Jones
11. Pat Metheny
12. Pepper Keenen
13. Al Di Meola
14. Allan Holdsworth
15. Trey Azagthoth
16. Kenny Hickey
17. Jimi Hendrix
18. Randy Rhoads
19. Sammy Duet
20. Frank Zappa

some are what I consider the greatest but mostly I just enjoy how the sound and express themselves on the frets.
