Finding the top 12 wasn't too bad, but narrowing it down to just five...

My top five:
Fates Warning "A Pleasant Shade of Gray"
Orphaned Land "Mabool"
Deep Purple "Purpendicular"
Dream Theater "Awake"
Loudness "Disillusion (Japanese edition)"

The next seven:
Iron Maiden "The Number of the Beast"
Dream Theater "Scenes from a Memory"
Rainbow "Live in Germany"
X-Japan "Blue Blood"
Fates Warning "X"
Scorpions "Fly to the Rainbow"
Redemption "Origins of Ruin"

1. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
2. Kansas - Leftoverture
3. Yes - Close To The Edge
4. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
5. Dream Theater - Metropolis part 2 : Scenes From A Memory

The real question is not Tales over Fragile, but Tales over C2tE? You're insane Claus.

Don't be a tool Ben. Just because most of the "prog reviewers" have Close To The Edge as their fave Yes album, doesn't mean you have to prefer that over anything else. I chose to make my own opinion based on what I personally like, and in the case of Yes it's "Tales ...". That doesn't mean I'm insane, it just means that I have better taste than you ;)

Damn, this board is going crazy in terms of lists. Anyways mine are:

1. Pink Floyd - The Wall
2. Judas Priest - Hell Bent for Leather
3. Dream Theater - Metropolis
4. Helloween - Keeper 1 and 2 (still counts as 1 album in my opinion)
5. Fiona Apple - When the Pawn...

Honorable mentions:
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Black Sabbath - Sabotage
Guns 'N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction
AC/DC - Powerage

1. Queesryche - Rage for Order
2. Edguy - Theater of Salvation
3. Type O - October Rust
4. Labyrinth - Return to Heaven Denied
5. Skid Row - Slave to the Grind

Very close after:
Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond
Pink Floyd - Meddle
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son
The Beatles - Abbey Road

Slade and Hawkwind = Win... :worship:

You can't go wrong with Slade or Hawkwind, and I consider my self very lucky to have been able to see both of them Live back in the 70's when I was stationed in Germany. Slade was undeniably the BEST concert i have ever been to, so much energy, fun, and yes they did use the bagpipe band. My grandson Jace loves this video and headbangs to it when i play it.

#1 and #2 are very much set in stone.
The next 3 are pretty interchangeable with each other, depending on my mood.

1. Tori Amos - Little Earthquakes
2. Voivod - Nothingface
3. Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans
4. Orphaned Land - Mabool
5. Celtic Frost - Into The Pandemonium

Nothingface was almost on my top 5 also. An amazing disc that is very underappreciated. I got to see them live on that tour with Soundgarden and Faith no More opening up for them. Kind of funny actually now.

Kamelot - Karma
VNV Nation - Empires
Nightwish - Century Child
Blind Guardian - A Night at the Opera
Devin Townsend Project - Addicted

My top five have more personal meanings as opposed to being all about the music. Some of these may raise an eyebrow or two around here.

The Refreshments - Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy
Nirvana - Nevermind
Danger Danger - Screw It
Story Of The Year - In The Wake of Determination
Megadeth - Youthinasia

Such a tough call but lets see....

Dream Theater - Images And Words
Pagan's Mind - Celestial Entrance
Jaded Heart - Helluva Time
Dokken - Under Lock And Key
Heavens Edge - S/T

Some others that could easily be up there

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Cold Sweat - Breakout
Edguy - Hellfire Club

I keep thinking there will come a point where my top 5 will start to fall from the list. Year after year though they remain the same.

#1 Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
#2 Iron Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son
#3 Megadeth - Rust In Peace
#4 King Diamond - Them
#5 Queensryche - Rage For Order
