I was too lazy to filter through all the pages of messages on translation to see if it was there, but could anyone give me the translations of:

Nar alver sina runor sjungit

I den trolska dalens hjarta

I like to sing these ones, and I have no idea of what I'm singing.

Welcome. Niniel. :D
I am also too lazy to traverse to stuff, here.. but later some
that knows if these have been translated here will come by.
YOu might also get some help with those translations too if
they're not done already (since I understand Swedish I never
had the urge to have them in English ;) )

Haven't I said earlier that I was not so willing to go through all the posts in a thread? Well I say it again... Thanks for trying anyways, but it's unfortunate that your links don't lead me to the page where the translation of the whole song is...

Well niniel, I thought it was very kind of astarte to dig out the links for you and I don't think you can expect others to do all the work for you and copy and paste the translations in your very own thread.
Just my to cents.

Well... I am drunk now, and you all now what that means...:D

Don´t you frekkin be mean to astarte, coz she did something great for you... Yeah... If you are to lazy, then well, we have translated those songs, if you can´t find it there, it simply don´t exist.

If you´d like the whole song you´d better hope for Fjelltussa to translate, or Mel... OR you could kindly ask them

Anyways...

SKÅL!

I don't think any of those songs are translated. Not the last one, anyway; not by me.

I think astarte was very kind!! She deserves credit for digging up those threads, not annoyed comments!!

Oki, hear's one of the songs you requested, niniel. There are some words missing, but someone else might be kind to translate them.... I haven't tried to translate the poetry in the lyrics, 'cause it would never be as good as the original. If you wanted that as well, you would have to learn the language. I can only say what the words mean.....

NÄR ALVER SINA RUNOR SJUNGIT
>WHEN ELVES THEIR RUNES HAVE SUNG

Solmärkets* brådfång nu står
Vid storskog och rimhöljda snår
Kom! Syster och broder från lid
Nu stundar en alvehögtid

>The sunmark [brådfång] now stands
>By forest and hoarcovered [snår]
>Come! Sister and brother from mountain side
>A holiday of the elves is now

En gåtfull släkt
I daggkåpa skrudad
Av skymningen väckt
Ur mossan som dess hemvist täckt

>An egnimatic family**
>Clothed in (a) coat of dew
>Awakened by the dusk
>Out of the moss that cover(ed) their home

När alver sina runor sjungit
Från åsar, utöver fåld
Och på frostöm växtbädd sprungit
Med ödets härold
Skola ödemarken viska
Från trolldomskällans bröst
Såsom nordanvindar friska
Med en sagoröst

>When elves their runes have sung
>From mountains out over [fåld]***
>And on [frostöm]**** ground have run
>With the herolds of destiny
>Should the wilderness whisper
>From the chest of the source of sorcery
>Like fresh northern winds
>With the voice of sagas

Höstmoln flyr
I brådstörtad resa
Över kärrlagg och myr
I, av trolltyg omstrålat äventyr

>Automn [moln] flies
>In hurried journey
>Over [kärrlegg] and marshes
>In, by troll creatures shining fairytales

När alver sina runor sjungit
Från åsar, utöver fåld
Och på frostöm växtbädd sprungit
Med ödets härold
Skola ödemarken viska
Från trolldomskällans bröst
Såsom nordanvindar friska
Med en sagoröst

>When elves their runes have sung
>From mountains out over [fåld]
>And on [frostöm] ground have run
>With the herolds of destiny
>Should the wilderness whisper
>From the chest of the source of sorcery
>Like fresh northern winds
>With the voice of sagas

En rikesfamnande syn
Beskådad av stjärnblick från skyn

>A view embracing/covering (the/a) (whole) kingdom
>Watched by star gazes from the sky

Words in [] are swedish words I cannot translate. Maybe someone else can help....?

*"sunmark" - this is a mark on some kind of sun calendar
**the word family here, means not just the near family, but counting generations
***¨"fåld" = (nearly) valley??
****"frostöm" = (nearly) frozen??

frostöm: frozen morning dew? french translation: givre?

Just supposing what the logical meaning could be....not knowing a single swedish word(or close to that)

I'll give my two cents

Öm means tender.
Ås means ridge, not mountain.
Moln means cloud.
Kärr is a minor swamp.
