Do you guys use drumagog to trigger cymbals and hats?

I have the snare and kick down, and my toms sound pretty good. But the cymbals are killing my mix.....too robotic sounding. Im using EZdrummer EX DKFH and drumagog with the slate samples for kick and snare.

Any suggestions on sampling the cymbals? Drumagog?

Thanks!

I do it all the time. Mainly to get better separation and to get rid of all room sound, if and only if the drums were tracked in a shitty room. It takes some limiting on the OH tracks and then I just automate the volume to bring back the realism.

Its always better to just track them correctly, but its not something that you have control over all the time.

What about using something like a contact mic (like those shitty bottle cap mics you stick to your acoustic?) or using something like those clip-on mics for hooking to a tuner? Something simple, cheap and crummy just to capture hits?
