tripl7d.t Phosphenes
Self released Demo
By Russell Garwood
Knowing little about this release other than the bands name and the title of the album, all I can inform you is that tripl7d.t hail from the UK, and features Micr.d.t with some other artist. So, on to the music. The ten tracks on this release are all very laid back, almost vacuous ambient. There are lots of atmospheric noises, understated rhythms and long, meandering tunes that develop layer upon layer. Occasionaly the subtle melodies become more ominous, with noise taking a role, before breaking down into loosely constructed synth tunes once again. And theres really not a great deal more to the music than that, just the ebb and flow of changing atmospheres and occasional more structured moments.
The production on Phosphenes, and general professionalism is impressive for a demo. If you are a fan of really low-key ambient, this is some cool stuff, well worth checking out. The stripped down songs are relaxing and atmospheric. For listeners less used to minimalistic electronics, however, it may not receive such a warm welcome. Nevertheless, it comes recommended to those with an open mind who want something laid back.
