true story from last night

there i was sitting at a table in this club in RI after listening to my college guitar teacher's band and one of the staff comes up to me and she says:

Her: So what band are you in?
Me: Oh I am not in any of the bands playing tonight.
Her: I know, but you look like you're in a band.
Me: I'm in Maudlin of the Well.
Her: Who?
Me: Maudlin of the Well.
Her: Never heard of you guys.

you could have retorted with a witty, "well, I've never heard of you before, either."

actually i responded with "hey baby baby let me rock your world."

when i first read this i was thinking you meant the college guitar teacher's (staff), like, he had a posse.

but you mean the club staff? i won't make a joke of this and ask about the wizard's staff.

did she drink coors light with you?

i'm thinking of more questions.

she didn't drink with us. when i sobered up i was thinking today that she was actually one of the owners and maybe would have been interested in hearing us for possible booking. doh! of course we probably wouldn't be the type of band they would want playing there.
