turning guitar to bass

what is the best way in your opinion to record and mix a guitar into a bass?

in podfarm there is a sub octive filter that can lower the tuning down an octive but that doesn't work so well, but you could always try that. It's all I got though bro, sorry if it isn't much help.

that's what i thought. to pitch shift it -1 octave but is there any other better way?
with the guitar only there isn't much lows going on and it sounds like sh1t right now.....

You just can't make a guitar sound like a bass guitar, unless you put in bass pickups and string it with .45-.105 gauge or something. I've tried many times to make a guitar di sound like a bass using ReaPitch to tune it down an octave, a shitload of EQ and compression into TSE BOD and getting ok results at best. I suggest you buy Trilian, it's a billion times better than pitch shifted guitars if you are unable to play and/or buy a bass guitar yourself.

Honestly, for the price you'll pay for Trillian you might as well just get a real bass. I got a decent ESP LTD 5 string bass for just a bit more than that price.

Yes of course you can't. I just need a heavy bass tone to fill in the gaps.

As for Trilian. I don't find any reason someone will use it if with that money can get a pretty decent bass....

Metaltastic did this tutorial. I wouldn't do it for any real recordings, but for demos and stuff its not too bad.
