I'm setting up my "new"(got it from my sis, she's travelling the world atm) home PC, just I-net and some prepro recording for fun.

I have 2 HDD's, one of them is internal and one external.

So, the comfortable way would be to place my DAW files on the external(easy to get the files to the studio).

But what brings the best performance?

I also run SSD for drums.
Should I install the library on the external?

The .wav writing/reading is maybe enough for the external?!

It's just my home pc, so I don't wanna buy 10HDD's to run everything from independent drives(as I do in the studio).

Maybe I don't trust these externals?:Spin:

Would be awesome if a PC guru could tell me what setup brings the best performance

Theres not really a best config for this but I would suggest the following;

I would install all plugins and daw to the internal drive and keep the projects on the external for portability.

Im guessing the external is connected via usb, this won't perform as well as a internal connected via sata but I cannot see there being a massive performance hit only keeping projects on an external.

Just make sure your taking regular backups of your projects so you don't lose anything.
