uh-oh I just got a phone call from Kayo Dot from Sturbridge, MA

The key is to find a place that you know will let you slide on the inspection. Sure there are some safety issues in that, but if you know the only thing wrong is with the seatbelts rather than some problem which could lead directly to an accident, then I'd say the risk is worth taking. This is semi-frequently practiced in my family, especially when dealing with work/farm vehicles, but also with my Fairlane, which has enough unforseen quirks and minor problems to make passing inspection in consecutive years a pretty unlikely event.

ozmagreed: they expect to be stopped by cops "a lot"
ozmagreed: the van has a choo choo train painted on it

This made my day.

Is there a possibility (do you know) that they may make up the pittsburgh show? I was almost down to the venue and my cell phone rang.... We didn't even have to ask why they were calling, it was just pretty much assumed.
