Unorthodox Recording Techniques?

Just curious as to what strange things other people do when recording, whether it be drums, guitar, vocals, what-have-you.

One of the techniques I do when recording downtuned guitars is I will mic up the amp, then take my condenser microphone and put it in the furthest corner of the room. This takes the huge bass response off of the sound and accents the harmonics of the mids and highs.

Mic up an open-back cab with a big diaphragm condenser and point it to a doorway. Huge ambience, very hard to control, but is great for blues type solos and clean rhythms.

While tracking/sampling drums I put a sdc in a stainless steel kitchen sink nearby. Gives me a really nasty room tone to mix underneath for a cool effect.

mic a wall 15 feet from what ever I'm recording, or set up speakers in my tracking room and send a drum stereo file to them and record a room tone.

I was able to hook up my guitar hero drum kit to send midi hits to my daw. Makes programming samples easy and fast. I guess it's not technically programming. But it keeps workflow smooth.

Oh right, duh. I meant to say, mic up the BACK of the open backed cab, IN CONJUNCTION with your normal mic. Flip that phase and get to mojoin'.
