I like the stock Cubase sound and the PT click that isn't super distorted - not sure what it's called, but the stock one is almost like a distorted burst of pure sine wave.

The PT default is a square wave. By nature louder and more obvious than anything else that would be going on in an arrangement.

I personally like to play to the default Cubase click, but I noticed that many musicians and "musicians" like the MPC click on Pro Tools a lot.

Cowbell for drums, calve for guitars. As a drummer, I find a cowbell click track to be the only sound that isn't distracting. The cowbell just feels like part of the song but is easy to groove with.

Actually anything that sounds organic works usually, as long as you can get into the mindset that it's just something that's there playing along to the beat. So claves, conga's sidestick, timbales should work fine too. I just like bands saying "more cowbell!"

how many of you guys actually use accents on your click track? In my band we all hate it, we prefer the same sound all the time, cause we switch a lot between 4/4 and 3/4 and sometimes other time signatures so it's annoying and distracting

I can't believe how many people like an actual pitched percussion instrument for a click track.


I also can't stand the stock cubase metronome...

Most of the people I record hate it as well.

I use high and low MIDI stick clicks in Cakewalks Built in Synth.

I'm looking for new clicks too, every now and then, sometimes Drummers are not satisfied with a "standard-metronome" click nor a cowbell.
For such cases it's always cool to have something that work for you aswell, so a nice collection of clicks would be nice.

I didn't expect so many replies.

I've been using the stock Reaper stuff and have experimented with different tones to see what would be best, but still don't dig them that much.

Looks like we need a CLICK SAMPLES META??????
