Urgent! Pro Tools help needed, pro tools freezing.

Hey,

So trying to sort shit for live tracks.
I'm not used to pro tools.
It keeps freezing when it tries to load an insert.

It doesn't work on the PC but it works on the Mac.
Strange :/
The PC has an i7-2600 CPU and 16gb of ram, running windows 7.
The mac is 2x2.66 dual core Xeon CPU's with 4gb of ram and running OSX 10.6.4

If any could help it'd be great.

Really don't know whats going on.

With Pro Tools common practice is to trash the prefs files and restart. You tried already?
I remember someone even creating small program for this.

when you say it freezes when you try to load an insert, what plugin is it? any plugin or a specific one?

If that doesn't fix your issue...then my guess is a bad install on whatever plug you're trying to insert. If it's all of them then you have a serious hardware/software issue and may need to reinstall PT.

Could be anything from the original install of PT was incorrect/corrupt or your motherboard isn't compatible (doubtful)

have you changed the playback buffer? what drivers/interface are you using?

I had this issue when trying to use a plugin that pro tools did not like or was not compatible with. Is the plugin you're using new, or have you jsut started using pro tools? I didn't have the issues right away...it seemed like it worked fien for awhile, then all of a sudden PT didn't like it any longer.

You can try to purge your preferences as mentioned. If you continue having issues you may want to go to the plugin folder and get rid of the plugin causing the issue.
