this may not be new to some, but since i was happy with the result, i thought i write it down for "whoever thinks it might be a good idea". 
i had 5 tom tracks and my channels for them already saved from a previous mix. so the toms were eq'd and panned already. i send them through the decapitator (lows cut), boosted the "snare frequency" a bit and exported them as a stereo track. i even left the tom reverb on.
then i started to cut the hits (very short). after cutting, just mixed the stereo track under the cutted toms. gives a fatter snare (i probably won't use an extra snare rev ), more room options (obviuosly) and an overall better "drum depth".
