When editing drums yesterday, thinking back, I was in desperate need of a drink actually. Drummer was not that bad, but no metal, like, psychedelic rock with organs and e-pianos (think the doors). Seriously, there must be 5000+ ghost notes on snare and off-beat accents on the hi-hat per song. He never plays a steady beat, everything is like one long fill. It takes three times as long as the worst metal band I did so far. And it's a whole album, I'm not even close to the finish line. Fuck, don't give me ideas like that!

That, and the built in preamps on Yamaha 01V96V2. It's pretty transparent, so if you're aiming for that, it's okay.

And when I was mastering the demo the singer pretty much admitted being tonedeaf. The music... it was was quite horrible too (and yes, that is the endresult).

I almost snorted out my coffee during this song! The vocal 'harmonics' in the chorus are pure gold! (Especially the "saaa nanana lalalaaa" part)

I suggest we should do a "worst band you've recorded" contest!! And create a compilation CD with the worst 10-12 songs.
Sending a copy to Nuclear Blast asking them to release would be even more funny.

I think the unfortunate thing about running a facility is that you're almost obligated to take those kinds of projects. If you have the flexibility to meet with a band, evaluate their potential and then work out whether you want to produce them, things have less of a tendency to go so terribly wrong. I'm sorry to hear about what you had to go through, though it does sound like your partner got the crux of it!

Nope, Cubase shop for years now.

Somehow I doubt we'll ever have to "produce" these guys. I wouldn't bet a pound on them still existing as a band 6 months from now.
