v-kit into battery with DKFH. . . questions. .

Hey guys, i was wondering if anyone has a set-up as such. I would like to record my friend's V-Kit straight into battery but I'm not sure exactly what to do. Why doesn't DKFH respond to a standard drum map instead of me having to re-route all the triggers in battery so i can use the v-kit or any midi controller for that matter?
