Vandal Amp sim released!

£170 wow, really??

I'm not trying to be disrespectful but that is seriously overpriced imho.

It sounds good but thats Dimi playing. He can make anything sound good lol.

I will have a mess around with the demo but I cant see how the difference between free amp sims and the vandal is £170

Anyway, good luck with it by all means.

Well, I'm really curious to try this out. As I always said, a revolution in cab simulation is what we really need to improve what we have today in terms of amp simulations.

By reading the site they say they got a whole new approach in regards of all aspects, and cab simulation...

We just have to test, on paper anyone is doin' new stuff, but I really found small steps were made in the past with new releases...

Pod fam it's a small Gearbox update, the Revalver guy release a bunch of additional stuff in 3.5 without nothing really worth of spending time updating it, Acmebag guys are really good but still, no "groundbraking" improvements...

we'll see

IMHO, if they really have new "technology" like they say and we can consider it a huge leap in quality, for me 170 it's a fair price. Still prefer to pay well worth money to a serious professional if he deserve it.

Wow Lasse... sounds sarcastic... :D

For me, I like to always be informed if and when tecnology advance, could be speaker simulation, computer graphic, spaceship development, or musical stuff...

As for paying, I would be very happy to get the greatest tecnology developed for free. But I'm still happy when I pay for something that It's groundbreaking.

What really sucks is when you pay people that doesn't do the job properly.

yeah, I sometimes like being an asshole :)

gave it a short try. like with overloud's th1 you can clearly see, that the software wasn't created by a metalhead. here's why: the high-gain sound lacks a serious amount of low-end. though I kinda like the idea of giving a shit about remodeling real gear and putting up an amp witch is not based on real hardware, one amp for that amount of money isn't value for money. if you like the sound, it will be probably good for you. If not than you lost a big amount of money. amplitube 3 and all the other free ones (lepou etc.) sounds much better!
EDIT: there's a litlle button next to the power knob of the amp with a tool on it. clicking on it opens a windows, where you can choose between different amps. the mesa mode adds some more low-end to it. why is such a important featrue that hidden?

It looks pretty nice! Has it been out for long? I thought I saw something very similar a while ago...

I might download the demo later and see how it sounds, but if it doesn't have good low end with its distortion, then that sucks :( I love low end :D

AT3 is the king of the amp sims at the moment.

I've got to say that I agree... I always hated the old Amplitubes, but this one really has proved its shit! I still use TSE X30 on almost everything, but when I'm just playing, and on a few things I have recorded recently, Amplitube 3 has been used a lot.

After tweaking around for a while (based on the "fat recto" preset) I found out a quite organic and fat high gain tone, at least when using impulse files from Recabinet.

But for 170,- € it's definitely overpriced...:u-huh:

What impulse from Recabinet did you use? I don't like searching through all of them to find the right one :D
