WHy exactly? Because so many DM/BM bands use illegible fonts? That's my fault? You can read every crazy BM logo can you?
~stormy~ <-----
It isn't that hard to read that logo, it clearly said Bloodbath >_>.

The fonts are typically not illegible at all really, sure a bit hard to read at first but hell, pretty easy once you see them enough.

Some of us are seriously unable to read Black/Death logos, I am one of them.

Hahaha, Nightmares Made Flesh is okay from what I've heard, though I have to admit I only listened when it came out because Peter Tagtgren was collaborating.

The album I like by Venom would be Black Metal.

I actually thought peter would ruin the album but his vocals are good on it. Aslong as he does not do anything musically he can't ruin something. I checked out the band because dan swano, akerfeldt. Very later on getting into Blakkheim's band 'diabolical masquerade'.

Nothing can possible ruin Blakkheim or Dan Swano's guitar playing because both are brilliant musicians.

I'm not sure what the big deal is on Hypocrisy & think they suck. I just can't find anything appealing about him at all in music.

I used to absolutely love Hypocrisy. All albums up until Into the Abyss are great. (I'm not including the albums with Masse Bromberg). After that I haven't been incredibly impressed. The middle albums were aesthetically pleasing (sorry if I sound like a douche, I don't know any good music words) to me, despite having some horrible solos, the music is memorable, Peter's got a great voice and they're the first band that got me into more extreme Metal.

So, maybe I'm just partial because of that, but I still love The Fourth Dimension, Abducted, The Final Chapter and s/t. Have you heard any of the music from mid-career, or just their more recent material?

Also, Peter probably had at least a little say in the music on Nightmares Made Flesh.

IMO I thought Nightmares made Flesh sounded a lot like Edge of Sanity meets Hypocrisy. I like alot of Hypocrisy but they lost me with some of the tracks on The Final Chapter, however the self titled and Into The Abyss were decent.

The first 3 Hypocrisy albums are the best, as are the first 3 Venom albums. Bang yer head!

All the songs are either written by Swano,Blakkheim or Renkse. Dan Swano does solos along with guest lead guitarist Simon Solomon.

Who wrote what songs

Anders Nystrom AKA Blakkheim: cancer of the soul, outnumbering the day, year of the cadaver race, draped in disease

Dan Swano: brave new hell, eaten, the ascension, stillborn savior

Jonas Renkse: soul evisceration, feeding the undead, bastard son of god, blood vortex.

All lyrics are written by them also.

Yeah, wasn't Peter an add-on at the very end?
I think you might be right. Bloodbath have been looking for a new vocalist for a little while now...

Even though Peter appears to have no direct contribution to the songwritting on NMF it sounds like a mix of his stuff, eos (and katatonia with the mellow and doomy parts) to me. Call me crazy.

Save yourself the trouble. Put some motorhead rehearsal bootleg in a very old tape recorder, and turn it up so it distorts the sound to a grotesque level.

Then you get Venom, at twice the talent.

Yeah I thought I heard a bit of Hypocrisy in there, too. He didn't produce it though or anything.

Bloodbath's riffs harmonies have a dark sinister haunting gloomy vibe where Hypocrisy's have an In Flames type vibe. I just don't hear it at all.

Hypocrisy also have the high end thin guitar tone where Bloodbath's are doomy, sludgy with lots of low-end like oldschool swedish death metal. Heavily distorted

I can hear some Katatonia,Diabolical Masuerade inlfluence but calling your band bloodbath talking about morbid things would not be right having happy sounding hypocrisy vibes.

The sound Bloodbath is to me is haunting, dark & morbid.

anyways.... this topic is about Venom so lets not keep fucking up the thread.
