Video Game Metal..

That sounds amazing! I was literally just thinking earlier today that a lot of FF music would make great wedding music also. I definitely want "Theme of Love" (FFIV) being played at my wedding.

Put your ego where your mouth is, AS. Let's see YOU do it.

I eagerly await your contribution. :)

No, and that's my point. I could never in a million years create anything as incredible as that Batman theme. Under the Simpsons theme, it's Elfman's most iconic piece. The fact that a bunch of kids re-arranged it (poorly) with guitars and sweepz doesn't impress me one bit if it doesn't posses the magic of the original, or do something new or interesting with it.

It's haunting, brooding, but triumphant and heroic at the same time. It moreso summarizes the character of Batman in 3 minutes than both Tim Burton films combined (the score was the only good part of those imo). Just adding guitars and making it metal for sake of doing so is pretentious and stupid.

and I'm not going even address the idea that 8-bit is "simple" and that these overproduced monstrosities are "much more." It's like calling the original Star Wars films "simple" and Avatar "much more."

ITT we all admit we're nerds.

Can't believe nobody has mentioned Guilty Gear yet.

Also, Mad props on the Lords of Thunder Soundtrack. Lots of PC-engine games had really good music.

The remake of Ys III for the PC called Oath in Felghana did an -excellent- job of redoing the Tigary Quarry theme, though the rest of the game's music is a little disappointing.

How can we talk about video game music (I know, the title says METAL) without mentioning the Minibosses? Mega Man 2's music is fantastic, and their cover is incredible.

Yes... Yes.... YES!

At my wedding this past October, the Ceremony began with To Zanarkand (FFX) aka one of the most beautiful piano songs on Earth. The Bridal Party (and me) did the church procession to a beautifully piano-strings arrangement of the Prelude theme (FFIV), and during the ceremony we had Love Will Grow (FFII) played as well.

It was beautiful.

That's really cool! The Final Fantasy games have my favorite VG music, along with Mega Man 3.

I AM NOT A NERD!!!!

Since the Venture Bros are artificially engineered homeschooled clones, I wouldn't call them nerds per se because they barely constitute as human. Their pops on their other hand is the nerd emperor magistrate. He tried to get those kids to listen to King Crimson for christ sakes!

Powerglove was ok for the first couple songs the first time I saw them. Unfortunately it seems every time a band I want to see comes to Raleigh, NC, Powerglove shows up, and i think....Them?? Again?? Every time they've played, the only ones buying their little foam swords were high school and college aged kids. Then they leave after Powerglove finishes. I too wish they would go away.

Awesome!

I am getting married next summer and am trying to come up with something Metal themed. As of right now it looks like my fiancée and I will be dancing to Nigtwish's "Sleeping Sun."

At our metal-themed wedding, we had each table named for a different metal band. So when people looked for their name tag to see which table they sat at, it said their name, and the name of their table. So we had like.. table Hammerfall, table Edguy, table Dethklok.. and then we had the band logos printed on card holders, with black and red centerpieces.

I am stealing your idea! It has just been approved by my fiancée!

We almost did the exact same thing! It would have been so wonderful, but we decided to not hear about it from our family members for the rest of our lives. "Why didn't you just have nice tables?? Why does everything always have to be about devil music for you??" :Smug:
