Vintage 30 connection question

Hi folks, I've just bought a shiny new celestion vintage 30 and I have an old enclosure that I'd like to fit it in. The enclosure currently has an old McKenzie Elite in it and everything pops out fine, but the McKenzie is connected by soldered wires and the Vintage 30 calls for spade connectors.

I'm having some trouble finding spades locally as the hardware stores seem to be out of stock so I was wondering if i could just solder the wires on to the points of the Vintage 30 instead of using spades, or is this just a very bad idea?

You can solder to the spades no problem and it will work perfectly. It just makes it less convenient to swap them again but that's hardly anything to worry about.

Hmmm just discovered I don't have any solder but I made the exposed wires long and fed them through the hole on the terminals and wrapped them around tight and it seems to be working fine.

Ummmm .. get some solder NOW. The vibration of the speaker will cause that to eventually come apart and you risk blowing the speaker, or worse your head!
