They came, they played, they didnt live up to it at all. ( sing this as the chorus to "Veni, Vidi, Vici" off of Invictus.

This is just one of those bands that has never really reached the potential I expected many moons ago. When I first heard "Marriage of Heaven and Hell", I thought that they had the songwriting skills down pat, but the overall SOUND of the band (in particular, the keyboards) was a tad immature (picture: a K-Mart Casio keyboard). I was even more surprised when that sound didn't evolve any over the next several albums!

Honestly, I think I enjoy some of their early 80's material as much as anything from the catalogue, although the last album was a pretty strong return to form after a few lackluster releases (House of Atreus, Invictus).

to put it bluntly, thier PPusa performance was hands down the worst performance I've seen of the 5 ProgPower's I've been to, 2 BWBK festivals, Chicago Power Fest and Bloodstock UK. It was absolutely horrid and I like some of Virgin Steele's music. :puke::puke:

There were two things about their set that were good: !) Justin and William flailing their swords about/having a good time and 2) the curtain closing at the end of the set.

I love 'em and would love to see them again.

I find it humourous that my 2 favorite performances have been Virgin Steele and Rage, which also happen to be the 2 most ragged on performances by our forum bretheren. It's okay, I like being different.

Oh boy... it sounds like I should be glad I missed the year they played ProgPower. I really like what I've heard of them (The House of Atreus Acts 1&2). David DeFeis has his vocal quirks and is easy to parody, but I like his voice and the overall sound of the band, even if it isn't so refined.
